Today we have:

Take the given words, and by moving a single letter from one word to the other, make a pair of synonyms, or near synonyms. For example, given: Boast - Hip, move the 's' from 'Boast' to 'Hip' creating two synonyms: Boat - Ship.

1. Open - Cop
2. Cave - Curt
3. Cares - Pest
4. Salve - Savage
5. Whiled - Spurn

Think the young ladies are having a bit of fun with the photographer! Although they look a bit old to be doing that! When I was younger, my parents learned to take two photos of us - one with our tongues out and one nice one! Works well at a 10 year-old boy's birthday party, too. They love the 'look crazy' pose!

Shiela, I tell my kids they have to do the good picture before they can do the silly one.

I think maybe I was lucky, Serena! It did work the other way for me, but I can see your reasoning! Maybe I took them by surprise!

I have boxes of homeschool supplies that were given to me. I finally got motivated to go through them yesterday. This has been on my mental to-do list forever. After getting through 4 boxes I ran into a problem. The rest of the boxes are currently supporting the section of ceiling that fell in on our porch. Talk about a motivation killer. Who know when the urge will strike again.

I don't know what counts as an unusual musical instrument but in out house we have a dulcimer, bodhran, and fife. There's also a variety of normal instruments.

Unusual musical instrument? Would my chanter qualify? It's a practice bagpipe. The pipe part without the bag. Then there's the usual, piano, guitar, and recorder. While my younger son was at home, a sax, trombone, and clarinet.

I got my grandie an electronic keyboard but he loves the piano and guitar. When he was four, I videotaped him playing and whaling away on his toy guitar. He made up the song and words as he went along with all the usual rock star moves!

Peter, I'm sorry to hear about your neighbour's son. I read one British publication everyday, and my understanding is this would be the third soldier to die in this same training exercise within three weeks. Mr Cee was correct in what he said yesterday. In the last few years, more SAS soldiers have More...

Good heavens, yes! No one should die in training exercises. You should have highly trained personnel doing the training. You don't push extremely hard physical activities until the people are ready for them. And the trainers should be doing the same thing so that they can tell whether the activity is reasonable.

The picture repulses me, as well. As I told my students, you don't put anything in your mouth except for clean food! We avoid a lot of illnesses by not putting anything in your mouth, one of the first vector for infections, including your fingers, really filthy things when you realize all the things you touch.
