How cynical I've become. As soon as I read the O'Hare story posted above, I doubted that it was real! Thanks for the snopes update.

I enjoy the stories like MizTrish's above and would love to believe them, but....not sure.

Here's another weird story. Many years ago, my husband and I were in Uruguay on business. We had never been there before. We stayed in a very old hotel (Hotel/Casino Carrasco) in a suburb just north of the city. The next day, we were taking a bus downtown, when (about half way there) I got up More...

Here's another one: when my husband was a young boy in Chile, one of his uncles who had moved to New York committed suicide. His body was sent back to Chile to be buried on the family ranch outside Temuco. The night before the burial, my husband and one of his brothers (who were sharing a More...

Jane, I went to Jim's address, didn't get any message, read parts of the article. It was interesting.

I guess Snopes serves a purpose, and when it is debunking potential fraud, it's justified. When it's just ruining a good story, I see it as a spoilsport.

Keith - that's what's called "glurge", Keith! While we all enjoy a good story, it's not fair to the unsuspecting public to embellish a story and pass it off as truth.

Noon - took the dog out - while the fog has lifted here it is still 32° (freezing). I was planning on getting the tree today - but there is still a lot of fog in the valley. Still may do it.

I have a good friend whose mother was near death after a long battle with cancer. My friend was sitting next to her bed, and, realizing the end was near, was holding her hand. Her mother hadn't been able to move or talk for several days. On her own, she suddenly sat up and called out very plainly, More...

Regardless of what Snopes says, I still believe in a Sanata Claus!
Too many conflicting opinions Jane, just like any hisorical event documented by different people with different viewpoints. Kind of like this site I guess. To each their own.

Kelpie, CG? looks more like a blue heeler in the back of that ute. Not to worry, they are both great dogs. I hope there is some way or restraining him when the ute is bucking over the paddocks or belting through the bush. Too many good dogs have died by falling or jumping out at the wrong time.

Madby, your story reminds me of another true story told to me by the sister in charge of a nursing home. She went into the room of one of the residents who complained about being 'up on the ceiling'. Because of CG's comment tying Snopes to Santa Clause, I went to Snopes and did a search for Santa Clause, fully expecting Snopes to inform me that Santa Clause was a myth. Not so. Maybe Snopes isn't so bad after all.
