Cathy - back! Can't wait to see the photos of your trip. You will understand my joy when I tell you that our kitchen is almost done! The tile backsplashes & a tumbled marble mural over the cooktop area are in but not grouted yet. And the appliances are being delivered today! The electrician is scheduled to install them & a few more lights tomorrow.

I need to get back to work. Jaime and I have been cleaning the exterior of the house, and today we're doing the screened porch. I just removed all the furniture and "stuff" (including some of my shell collection, natch). We thought we'd better do the heavy work today because it's going to be 99 degrees tomorrow. (It's only getting to 96 today!!) See you later...

Meanwhile in Canberra, the temperature is set to go below freezing overnight!!

Again, that is - I had to scrape ice off the car windscreen on Tuesday morning!

I have a small shell collection, too. And I collect rocks when we travel. My favorite? A white one from the "White Cliffs of Dover". Luckily, I wasn't arrested pocketing it.

Heidi, sounds like you have a great collection! Do you keep them all displayed somewhere? Most of ours are in boxes just like Jane's.

CP, I'd be glad to send over some of our "warmth" for you. It's going to be a long hot summer here in FL.

99 degrees in Florida!
Below freezing in Canberra!
Don't think I will complain about 77 degrees with steady rain in Ohio.
Hope everyone has a beautiful day where ever you are.
Catherine - precious baby. Lucky Grandma.

Shiela & Kathy - we tend to pick up rocks when we travel, too. Do any of you have "lucky stones"? They are stones which have a very visible circle of white or light all the way around them like a belt. We have found quite a few & they do seem to bring us good luck!!!

Mari, where in Ohio are you? Kathy and Kathy are from Ohio.
Where is Jamie??? We haven't celebrated his retirement....

Good Maen Sudokuland. The great debate today is to water the flowers or not. "They" say showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. But last time they said that, my poor flowers only got about a thimble full of rain. Oh well, the flowers are suffering, but my kids are growing before my very eyes!

I've never heard of 'lucky stones', Kathy. I'll have to be on the look-out. Are they found near the water, or just anywhere?
11/Jun/09 1:22 AM

P.S. I also like "rocks" like you collect, GannieMo!

My handy hint for the day - for parents:

Hooks on the wall with sacks; for hanging up children so they are out of the way.

Good Maen to everyone!

Catherine is beautiful!

Kathy, we have found lucky stones all over the place. If you would like to send me your address in a personal message, I will mail you one for your collection. I'm willing to share some of our good luck - especially with a fellow Ohioan. And Shiela, I'd do the same for you, since I went to college in Michigan (at the GOOD school ).

I think it is a shame you no longer see kids in reins. They are invaluable. A mum with a run wild child told me recently when I suggested them that 'the child refused to wear them'! Hello, since when does a 2 year old have the vote.

A neighbour, when i was about 4, used to drive a meat truck, which had big hooks in it to hang sides of beef etc - one day he hung me up by my dungaree straps!!!

and just what was your crime CP? Were you a little devil even then?

Can get cute ones now, Mo - they are an animal backpack for the child with reins on for adults to hold. Seems the kids are less resistant to the cute backpack!

Thank you, all you lovely people, who sent Birthday greetings for today.(It is still 10th here in France). I had a lovely time out in my garden in the sunshine. Lots of cards, messages, taxts and prezzies. Thanks.

Heidi, Thanks for the geography lesson. I'd never heard of Tortuga in the Pacific. I "Googled". Now I know a little more than I did earlier...

I was very good in school
Good at being naughty
Good at making the others laugh in class
Good at getting detention
Good at athletics(I think thats why I wasn't expelled)

A bit slow on the uptake, but I've put up a picture of our shell collection on my page. It's small, but has some nice ones.

I collected, while in Hawaii, a Tiger Cowrie, Triton's Trumpet, Textile Cones, and others. During a visit to Ocho Rios, I picked up a few Conch. I haven't had my "head wet" since the early '80s...

Shiela, are you teasing me? Surely you know how much Judy of San Diego & I love the Univ. of Michigan! The Mich. fight song clearly states that we are "the victors valiant"; "the leaders & best", and "champions of the west" (as in midwest, I guess). I know More...

A woman went into a pet shop and enqiured about buying a parrot. The assistant told her that he only had one left and that she could have it for $100.

More shell collectors are turning up! Jerry, are your shells out on display or packed in boxes. Keith, where are yours?

Greg, do you have a favorite to win the Stanley Cup - Detroit or Pittsburg?
11/Jun/09 3:02 AM
 |  |

If I don't say Detroit, Judy will kill me with dull wiener sticks! Go Wings!
11/Jun/09 3:04 AM
 |  |

Greg, you are wise to avoid the wrath of Judy - she can be very frightening with those wiener sticks! It's a shame the Wings couldn't have won it last night. Now we Detroit fans have to sweat out Friday night.

HI all! We're on shells today, are we? I am more interested in the thing that lives in the shell and what it tastes like than the shell itself.
