A Paradox.....

A boy was watching his father, a pastor, write a sermon.
"How do you know what to say?" he asked.
"Why, God tells me."
"Oh, then why do you keep crossing things out?"

Yesterday's riddle answer as follows: "chair puff work patch dish" and plenty intelligent folks found the answer including Keith, CG, Sue, Heidi, Jane, Judy and Kathy.

Here's today's teaser, keeping with today's theme of course! Answers to the cockles and mussels" inbox please!
I am 600 feet tall, but am not a mountain, a tree or a tower.
My body resembles shells being created as ribs from a sphere of the same radius;
yet I am not an egg, nor do I More...

I like fresh peas right out of the shell, almost anything that comes out of the water in shells and a variety of nuts, but I don't save the shells. Does that count?

oh for a huge bowl of moules marnières, some crusty French bread and a glass of dry white wine or two...hum, hum, sigh!

Fi - Conch was good. The rest I didn't try. I did eat periwinkles, off the rocks @ Coronado (San Diego) "way back when", while attending military "survival" training.

Mmmmm Please send a bowl here Fiona. If you have eaten them all I'll settle for a couple of dozen oysters. As the season is over I will have them open, a little white wine in each, topped with sauce beurre blanc and 1 minute under a very hot grill, mmmmmmmmm

Kathy - mine are in boxes in "storage". I haven't seen them in almost 20 years.....

Fiona's passing out snacks? I'll settle for just a dozen, unlike SOME piggy people from France.

At least once a week, every time I went to Brussels, I went out for moules et frites. Moules in a variety of sauces, served in a large pot with a side dish of fries and a plate of fresh bread. Of course, to wash it down, A few mugs of Belgian beer from whatever brew pub we were in that day.

There is a chain here, Greg, called 'Leon de Bruxelles'. They serve moules frites in Le Cruset iron pans with a choice of several sauces and the biffest bowl of fries.

oh don't CG - it's just too much! And Kathy - I ain't passing out any snacks - these mussels are all for me - and that goes for the wine too!

No Mo, we generally went down to the Grand Place area and tried different restaurants and brew pubs. I did Brussels at least twice a year for six years, and I could tell you stories (but I won't)!!!

Kathy, I'm in Cincinnati. Almost as far south and west as you can get and not be in either Kentucky or Indiana.
No shell collection here, just a few jars of them that the kids found on the beach when they were younger. We only ever found the very small white ones. I don't think we were up and out searching early enough on any of those vacations.

Oooh Greg, I went to Brussels in my youth too!!!!!
11/Jun/09 4:24 AM

Sadly, it wasn't in my youth, but I enjoyed my time over there (other then the prices!). I guess you haven't seen the Manneken Pis in my photo gallery, but it sums up our brew pub nights!

Judy asked ... mine are in a back bathroom, crowded in as best they can be on the windowsill and the hot water heater. No formal display case and/or labeling, and when I gather more, there will be no place to put them.

Everyone talking of collections. Does anyone have other collections. I collect Ladies Powder Compacts, the more Art Deco the better. I also collect Vintage, pre 1950, glitzy costume jewellery.

Heidi, The table sounds nice. When I was in Hawaii, I had a marine aquarium with living shells in it. The "Textile" Cones were great for cleaning other shells. They are super hunters and know when another live shell is introduced to the tank.

I used to collect elephants, and I have fairly large collections of books and videos, cake pans and various table settings. And lotza photos! (*looks around*) and quite a collection of unopened bills and statements in the pile of mail on my desk.

Where to begin, I love bling so have some of that. I also collect open salts and the spoons when I can find them. I have some schrimshaw - teeth and bone pieces, all are legal, most done by Alaskan natives. Lastly I have a collection of Lladro [Spanish porcelain]. I have no room or money for other collections.

My Steven has a tool for every job - drill, screw drivers, hedge trimmers(we don't actually have a hedge, 'but may one day'), He finds it impossible 'not' to buy offers for workman's tool.

Oh good, someone else collects the same as me. Not the elephants .. the "collection of unopened bills and statements in the pile of mail on my desk."
Too funny Plum!!
