everybody. The topics, ideas, & friendly "conversations" here the past two days have been SO enjoyable for me to read. I have loved finding out about everyone's collections & special belongings. Most of the things in my home that I truly love are special to me More...

Jane, this week had been the most exciting week of the whole process. As we speak (or should I say type!) Rob & the electrician are putting in the wall oven - it's going to be a VERY tight fit. They have already put in the induction cooktop & the drawer microwave. I have never in my More...

Maybe Rob should come here and take over as Project Manager. We might see some movement. This will be the first time I will have a new kitchen but some of the appliances are staying although judging by the noises from the washer and the way it 'walks' across the floor when spinning it may have other ideas.

Hey, Mo, I like that idea! I keep telling Rob he could become a general contractor. But I'll have to come along to supervise & lend my expert advice Actually, I will think of you often in my new kitchen. The wall mural I picked for over the cooktop is a scene overlooking a vineyard. More...

I'd like to back track to yesterday, and respond to Ian about emails to Seniors Care Centres, and to people suffering dementia. I believe one of the biggest concerns from care giver facilities would relate to privacy and confidentiality. If a senior is able to access their own email on a common More...

all - a rather sad sentimental day today as I sold my husband's baby today to my next door neighbor. Lot's of memories. I posted a photo of the black beauty on my page. It was made for Germany, only a few are even in the United States. It took me almost a month to decide to More...

A little boy was overheard talking to himself as he strutted through the backyard, wearing his baseball cap and toting a ball and bat. "I'm the greatest hitter in the world," he announced.
Then, he tossed the ball into the air, swung at it, and missed.
"Strike One!" he More...

Also, Mo, I wanted to tell you that I loved your story about your BIL giving away his paperweights. What a lovely idea! My daughters & I sometimes laugh about all the "stuff" I have in my house. I am so sentimental it's hard for me to get rid of ANYthing! I know very well that my More...

Stssssss! Hot car, Eve!
I can see why it was your husband's 'baby'! And I can only imagine how hard it was to give up when it brings back all the memories, too. Someone else will now treasure it, but you will still have your memories.

Eve, I'm sure that was very hard for you. Like I said it's not the THINGS, it's the people they remind you of. But I'm sure your husband will be glad to have someone you know (I assume your neighbor is a good guy?) take over driving & caring for his "baby" & hopefully, loving it as much as he did.

HI all! Interesting day hearing about all the things you've inherited. André, I believe I saw a similar programme to the one you were talking about - the effect of the music on those sufferers was minimal at first, but soon grew and the final result was impressive. They don't get better, but their lives seem infinitely happier.

Oh Cathy all the cookbooks that were my mums all have annotations in the margins. I also found a hand written recipe which bears the note 'this was written by SPF' SPF being my great grandmother. It is for a steamed suet pudding. BTW I have over 200 cookbooks! Including one I edited. Does that count as a collection?

September is the time for whales,
when the great ones rise and dance
on a sea so blue that kings may not have it.

I have seen them, on those fire days and diamond nights, and asked if I might follow.

Their rumpled laughter warned of death,
and sad, I turned my ship to home.
