Whoa! Me too. I was posting comments re yesterday's first page (better late than never), wondering when changeover was because I saw there were 3 more pages to go--and I got rolled over. Maen to all.

Me Too II. OK, now I've done today's puzzle too. First "me too" was for getting caught in change over. 2nd is for a nice shiraz with a long lunch.

I could go for a long lunch - one with a little more Shiraz and a whole lot less of Mac and Cheese and apple juice!

Good plonk. Too bad the user couldn't have keep their fingers on the stem so there wouldn't be all those prints all over the glass.

Watch out. CSI may determine who you are and link you to a crime.

Good Maen to all. This is the second time in a row I've been under 3 minutes! I remember when I first started Sudoku, a couple of years ago, that I felt lucky to finish in 10 minutes!

Good Tuesday Maen, all!

Linda: Congrats! I got in under 2 minutes today, too!
It happens so rarely for me, but today, I was just buzzing along, fitting those numbers in their boxes...

Dorthey - Why not have a nice wine in the morning with breakfast Ham & eggs with a Pinot Noir, or a Cinnamon roll & fresh fruit with a Pinot Gris?

Just don't drink what has been sitting in a glass overnight.

Nicki - but that's how you know which glass is yours without having to use those tacky wine glass charms!!!!

A little wine quiz: Does anyone know the correct way to hold a glass of red wine?
17/Oct/07 1:46 AM
 |  |

Jane - I have a collection of wine glasses from different wineries and tasting events (about 40). When I have a party, each person has a different glass and they are told to remember which winery/event their's is, so they can find their own glass when it has been set down somewhere. It works quite well.

Eve - great idea! Wish I'd saved all the glasses I accumulated from wine tastings over the years! But they probably wouldn't have made the last move anyway. We downsized drastically when we moved here! My current kitchen is 1/3 the size of my previous one!

Wine for brekkie? Wine not???????
17/Oct/07 2:00 AM
 |  |

Jane: Hold the wine glass by the stem, check the color and clarity of the wine and sniff the boquet. If the wine is chilled (60°), the bowl of the glass should be held in your hand - to warm the wine and allow the heat of your hand to open the wine as you would with a Sherry or Port. The More...

Actually, for red wine, the correct way to hold the glass is to cradle it in your palm with the stem between the middle and ring finger. Never, ever, pick up a wine glass by the stem; with really expensive crystal glasses you might actually shatter the stem by doing so!

A doctor in Ireland wanted to get off work and go hunting, so he approached
His assistant. "Garge, I am goin huntin tomorrow and don't want to close the clinic.
I want you to take care of the clinic and take care of all me patients".
"Yes, sir!" answers Garge.

We've switched to stemless wine glasses because I got tired of washing (and breaking) our stemmed ones. Spiegelau stemmed are a little less fragile than Riedel, but I break them, too. The stemless are great because they go right in the dishwasher. I find that the bowl size makes a huge difference in how the wine tastes. Even the wineries are now serving their reds in large glasses.

Martha - I agree. The stemless wine glasses make so much sense. Unfortunately, I don't have much cabinet space, so I have to use a wine glass rack to hang my glasses when not in use! Of course, I guess I could just drink the wine right out of the bottle!!!
17/Oct/07 2:26 AM
 |  |

Jane - watch out when swirling the wine while it is in the bottle.

Do you remember when the champaign glasses were wide and shallow (old movies). I may still have some that the stem are hollow - makes for better bubbles. Then they went to wine flutes. Of course you could always drink champaign from a slipper. Ugh!
