we don't have cinder toffee here in France, and we don't have Crunchies either, so no amount of translation will get those into your recipe for catherine - I know what crunchies are so get the jist of the honeycomb bit, but I don't know what we could put in its place over here. Mission control, we have a problem!!

Yes, it's amazing what a simple typo will do to a conversation isn't it. My pouting over the mixture does conjure up some images. Are you able to get chocolate ripple biscuits there ? If so, watch out for my post (as soon as I can find it in my vast recipe cupboard) for Choc mint cheesecake.
 |  |
I'm just off to google honeycombe - see if I can come up with something
 |  |
ah, we have contact! Violet crumble is a no-no here, that's for sure. If there's an english shop anywhere near catherine she may find crunchies, but I'd have no chance out here in the sticks of the Pyrenees!! I could get my mother to bring crunchies at xmas but catherine lives about a thousand km from here so that wouldn't be much help. Go for the choc mint cheesecake!
 |  |
and what are choolate ripple biscuits Col???? Don't you have a recipe with flour and butter and eggs, you know like fairy cakes, which are about my limit and which I have to make for the kids on their last day at school tomorrow!
 |  |
http://www.grandpapencil.com/activity/arecipe/honeycom.htm
This is the best I can do. It tells you how to actually make it instead of buying it !
 |  |
I'll let catherine know and she can make honeycomb if she has the time - all those bees you have to buy, dear me, wouldn't it be easier to get Ted to ship over some violet crumble instead?
 |  |
OK. Isn't it amazing what divides us ! LOL.
Chocolate Ripple Biscuits (are you going nuts yet reading all this KRP ?) are made by Arnotts, (I think - but someone please correct me if I'm wrong). They are simply a sweet (not cream filled) chocolate buscuits (lots of sugar). So when (if) I find my recipe, any choc sweet biscuit will do.

thanks col

copied printed and instructed my cake cook ( daughter 2 ) to make the honeycomb cheesecake.

fiona, check on ebay. there will be some entrpreneur from wherever,, who wiill be happy to send c the violet crumble. probably more than the woolies price but you just cant beat the real thing.

cheers
 |  |
you're telling me, Col! Arnotts is a fashion store where I grew up!!
 |  |
Next cyber party we have, I shall bring Chocolate Ripple biscuits, Crunchies, Violet Crumbles, Twisties and Caramalo Koalas !

Yes - I do know what your next question will be
 |  |
is ther a recipe for marsbar cheesecake?

now there would be a megacholesterol hit, but what a way to go!!!!!!!!!!

yUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUmmmmmmmm

cheers
 |  |
LOL - definately DONT put the winter woolies in the mix Fiona
 |  |
what makes me laugh is that for some strange reason everyone thinks it's ME who wants to make this damn honeycomb thing - I do not want to make it, it's catherine!!!! I'm quite happy with fairy cakes! Come in CATHERINE, get those bees off me!
 |  |
Probably - I will check and get back to you. If anyone has a Reeeeeaaallly sweet tooth - I have a recipe for after dinner mints that is basically just icing sugar and cream cheese
 |  |
Fiona, I know it's catherine who wants it - but I explained my skills with French earlier - there are none basically ! So, my dear, it would appear that you shall be the resident translater ! lol (You could get big money for that with the UN)
 |  |
caramalo drop bears??
 |  |
I too am a regular & know the disguise. Dont despair, apart from the pregnancy, same thing happened in my family. Business went broke in a recession, couldn't get work for 2 years. We lost everything & owed many thousands. Lived in a caravan for several years till things gradually got better. There is no security in life ever.
 |  |
Back in 20 mins - young residents of my household need some attention (so does the garden that they are currently trying to dismantle petal by petal)
 |  |
Not quite - but close enough.
 |  |
yes, but think of all the boring depressing things you'd be translating every day, no thanks! And nowadays to be a translator you need at least three languages and my spanish would need a real brushing up to qualify!
 |  |
the wheel ALWAYS ends up turning again - sometimes it feels like things will never get better, but they do, and remember you're never the only one with problems, so share them around, speak about them, get help, don't keep them to yourself and don't be shy about asking for help -you'd be surprised just how many people are happy to be asked.

3.04 Hang in there to all having a rough trot. The land of sudoku is kind and giving to all. Recently had a bit of a medical scare - a nasty lump required two biopsys before it could be diagnosed properly so all in all it took 4 weeks to find out that I dont have cancer. Hooray! A positive More...

However what you make of life after the event can make or break you. You tried you failed, there is no shame in that - at least you tried. Failure to give things a go in the 1st place is worse in my book. We kept a positive outlook & knew things happen for a reason. We didn't know what at the time More...

glad things went well for you maggie - it's true that this site is a comfort for many people, if only to take your mind off things for a while
 |  |
Je suis là mais je vais avoir du mal à suivre le rythme des réponses!
 |  |
I will try the recipe with nougat or turron that is hard and can be broke and crush.
col is the garden destroy?
 |  |
expect it. We both worked 2 jobs for while which eventually led to both of us getting different well paid careers. Kids survived, life was stressed at times but we had our health & we did pay off all debts in 15 years. Got a house again, car furniture etc - life does go on & you are better & More...

 |  |
hay, i did it in 4 minutes 25 secs.
 |  |
 |  |
It's definItely, not...nAtely.
 |  |
 |  |
where did I write definately??????
 |  |
it wasn't me, I take offence, it was Col! Apology please! As an English teacher I would never write 'definately', I can assure you!
 |  |
I dont think nougat would work and I don't know what turron is. I did pick up in Fiona's post that she was talking about maltesers. This would be a better choice. The centre of malteasers isn't honeycomb but it's the closest thing I can think of at the moment
 |  |
I have definItely in my Harrap's
 |  |
Col would you please take responsibility for 'definately' written above. Spellmaster, I await your apology, read the post properly
