WOW! That is a fantastic scenery shot!
On my one trip to Portland, it was too cloudy to see Mt. Hood very well. This photograph frames the city against the ancient volcano with post-card quality. Five stars out of five.
I found nearby Multnomah Falls to be a nature experience like no other. More...

Terri - what a wonderful photo. My brother has talked about vacations to Mt. Hood but I never knew it was so beautiful. From where did you take such a high-up photo that just skims across the tops of the skyscapers?

I smiled when I read Angie/Wisconsin's telling us she would pick apples today; it brings back childhood Midwestern momories of Red Delicious apples made into pie the same day they were picked off the tree..... Yum.

It also reminds me of reading the agricultural report in the newspaper when More...

Plum, I recall from my time in Portland that a large hill/small mountain rises from just west of downtown. In the late 1800s the rich lived there, taking advantage of the glorious view. Our friend in Portland took us to a historically preserved, huge home perched at the top of the hill. This shot looks like the view I recall of the city from there - with the addition of Mt. Hood in the background.

Ooooh Angie, I remember the last time I got to pick apples. Half of them ended in my tummy! Yummy! Yes I was there with family and spent most of the time talking!

The most popular apples in my area are McIntosh (my favorite), Gala, Cortland, Jonathan, and Golden or Red Delicious.

Thanks, Jim! That explains it very well. Now can you help with the Medium puzzle? Where was Wildene when she took that picture?

everyone ...
Great picture of Portland and Mt. Hood. Just 300 miles north of me. I never tire of seeing the beautiful Volcano mountains of the great Northwest USA. Enjoy your day, what ever part of it you have left.

Today's my hubby's ("Burl"'s) birthday. I like this day every year because now he's only a year younger than me. I bought some caramel apples with peanuts to eat at another county fair tomorrow -- we'll be visiting to see some goats. Cheaper than buying them at the fair and an appropriate treat for the autumn equinox.

I didn't even have to wait for the caption on this one. I grew up in Portland and saw variations on this view daily...

I have been to Florida's mountain, but there were no pictures of it to compare with today's pic.

Has anyone else been to Mt. Dora?

Angie, I'm going to bake some apple crisp today -- with the fall, I start to crave those autumn spices - pumpkin bread, carmel apples - with the cooler weather - I actually with use my oven - once in a while.

Overcast now, but earlier rode my bike downtown to the Riverwalk Fine Arts Faire. Some very nice pieces - there were photo that changed from season to season as you swayed in front of the picture, and photo that were a collection of other pictures -- ex: child looking in a telescope and the moon/stars/planets just outside his widow.

Angie, nothing like fresh off the tree apples!
Mymare, I love apple crisp!
I used to make a yummy apple pizza. (Before I became lactose intolerant, that is, ...because it has cream cheese on it.)

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD -40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Ok that's duct tape for the kids when they're suppose to be doing their homework and WD-40 for hubby when they do the couch potato act.

Good morning. It's just me and the dog this morning and he's still asleep on his couch. Hubby has gone to work for the first time since early March. He's not allowed to drive trains yet so goodness knows what he'll be doing.
I'm going to have to take back the home duties - cooking, washing, sweeping etc. Hubby will miss his afternoon naps and his walks with the dog.
