HI Kathy - thanks for asking - Scott has made an almost complete recovery; spots have gone, tiredness has gone and there's now just a squeak if you put pressure on the line of the nerve where the spots were. He was 'carried' three times and this seems to have done the trick! Mysterious but it works!

Glad to hear that Scott has recovered, Fiona!

Kathy, the bull terrier I met had a lovely nature but as he wasn't desexed he kept trying to hump poor Reggie. Reggie was not at all happy and spent most of his time growling or running away from it.

Fiona: I just found this site, and I'm sorry I didn't discover it in a more timely way:

What do you mean by "carried?" Literally carried around?

Nah, I don't like these dogs either. I think they are referred to here as "pig dogs" - but don't know if that is in their pure form or interbred for hunting wild pigs.

Sorry, my confusion. They are known as pig dogs because some think they look like pigs, and they were bred in olden times to fight - both in a pit, and to fight badgers. I think I had them and pit bull terriers mixed up in my head.

Is Windows a virus?

With the on-going problems being encountered by Windows users all across the country, people are beginning to ask themselves if Windows is a virus. In response to the high demand for an answer to that question a study was done and concluded the following.

1. More...

Swine Flu Update

I heard that the first symptom is that you come out in rashers.

Another is that you get the trotts.

But, I More...

Fine example of an English Bull Terrier. Not a Staffordshire, American or Pit Bull. Should have a head the shape of an egg with no folds of skin to be caught by the bulls horns or by other dogs in the days that those activities were acceptable. Generally still highly dangerous to other animals if More...

Doesn't sound like a great pet to me, saylz.
Who wants to take the chance of their dog attacking a child?? Or that is highly dangerous to other animals??

Seems coincidential. Local news just reported small child savaged badly by two dobermanns earlier today. Dogs were shot immediately. Seems to me the people looking after the children (I think in this case, the dogs' owners not the children's parents) should have taken the lead tablet.

I have never lived with a bull-terrier. However I have a derived idea that they are temperamental.
In UK they are recognised as being a bit dodgy in behaviour. Maybe they are nice to people they know and trust, but impulsive and unpredictable towards strangers. I do not find them More...

Earlier this year in the summer, with my doors open to air the place, from my kitchen I heard a strange shuffling noise. I got up out of my chair to investigate, and found two unknown dogs in my hallway. One was a dobermann and the other was a bull-terrier. I felt intimidated by the Dobermann - as More...

From the dog judge whose wife suffers from cynophobia.
It is amazing the number of people who belittle her because of her fear of dogs. Many dog owners just don't realish the anguish they cause by insisting on allowing their dogs off lead and then become really abusive when you ask them to put the lead on or go to the off lead park.

saylz, I sympathise with your wife. I had never owned a dog before we got Reggie (nearly 3 years ago). I hate seeing other dogs come bounding up to us at the park especially since he was attacked last March. If there is a dog off-leash we take Reggie away from that area nowadays. We won't take More...

I don't think that makes sense. Dogs which are off-leash in the general park cause us to walk elsewhere.
Of course we are happy to go to the dog off-leash park with other dogs and their owners.

Hello everyone, on the subject of dogs my D2 stepson was married on the beach a couple of weeks ago and a woman walking her 2 dogs let them off the leash and they came bounding up to the table for signing the certificate and peed on the corner of the cloth covering it and the owner did nothing to stop them.

Saylz, your wife has my sympathy and complete understanding. I, too, am frightened of dogs, and a dog off a leash in the street or park literally puts a chill through me to my bones. And of course they inevitably come bounding up to terrify me, while their owners snigger at my distress which is all More...
