all from Sunny So. Oregon

At least we are not in the heat wave, that many others are experiencing - only in the 80's.

hi every one,
I'm on holidays :) for a month. I'm rarely on these days as don't have internet on at home... but just occasionally come on for a quick game.

Also called Plumeria - which are used in leis that are floated at funerals or memorials.

I managed to grow trees up to 6" in So. Calif. Tough bringing them into the lanai during the winter.

I can smell them from here!

In Hawaii I think it's called "melia" (or something like that) Primarily used to make leis. I know it as plumeria, Eve. It has a wonderful fragrance.

Nice to "see" you, fii! I wish you a happy holiday, More...

2:48 Good evening all. I think I should be in bed as I kept making silly mistakes.
Hello Fi - lovely to see you on here. I was going to include you in an e'mail I sent earlier but I didn't think you would receive it.

I said the trees got up to 6" - that was the stick from which they were started - the got up to 6' - that it was hard getting them into the lanai for wintering.

It is time to light a some frangipani incense, to remind me of the beauty of the scent.

HI all! What a busy day it's been here; first our President Sarkozy came to visit and managed to close all the roads round my house into the bargain - given that he actually came in a helicopter I don't quite understand! And now we have the French football team trying desperately to save their honour against South Africa...and failing by two goals to nil for the moment. Ha!

And my inbox was full of answers to yesterday's riddle. The actual answer I wanted was five - remove the FIE and you get left with V in Roman numerals. However I did get a large selection of alternatives which were equally possible, so well done to all the usual riddlers.

I have one little Plumeria that is only 12" tall so far. I started it from a little stick, too. I take it that they're slow growing, Eve?

The Prez must have come for the left over fairy cake. She's been baking up a storm! Fiona tells me her fairy cake is world renown.

Let's not be too pretentious Kathy, but yes, my fairy cake reputation has probably reached the President's ears! In any case Carla (the presidential one) didn't come by - she might have been worried for her figure - those cakes are soooo good!

As I said a busy busy day - I now have a noisy tractor in the field next door, sigh. Maybe he'll go away if I give him a fairy cake. Then again, I might never get rid of him.

Food mAen world!
Another scorcher here today. A/C in pickemup truck only works when it wants to. Usually not in the hottest part of the day. Have been to my tutoring session, now it is time for a rather late lunch. Better get moving toward the kitchen.

A woman was leaving a Depanneur with her morning coffee when she noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A long black hearse was followed by a second long black hearse about 50 feet behind. Behind the second hearse was a solitary woman walking a pit bull on a More...

all. Nice to see you here fii. Happy belated BD to YOUR Carla, Fiona. Wonder how much she has grown since I marked her height on my measuring wall on 7/30/09? Do you think it was bad karma that caused the French football team to lose to South Africa today? Maybe a good lesson that badly behaved

Sign me up for the plumeria/frangipani fan club. We have about 5-6 small ones in various places around our yard. They were up to about 2-3 feet until our hard winter this year killed them. We were very happy to see signs of life again this spring, though, & now there are some shoots & leaves reappearing. And yes, Heidi, they are slow growing!
