I've just done a really dumb thing - I've signed up to do a half marathon (21.1Km) in Sydney on 23 Sept. It'll be the first time I've attempted the distance so, as we get closer to the date, I'll be asking everyone on the site to wish me luck (I'll need it!)

Thanks André; I'm going for the half marathon this time around and, if I survive, I'm going to try a full marathon around the end of March next year in Canberra (eek!)

Chris, you'll make it and feel proud of yourself! My brother ran his first marathon when he was in his forties in a minute less than 4 hours. I on a minor scale ran my first 5 K when I was 49. I got 5th for my division. So you, my dear young thing, will do splendidly!! Please post how you did!

Billy - big thanks and virtual hug for the nice comment. I am so glad you read my previous appreciation of your acknowledgement before the dreaded midnight. I try, but writing does not come so easy. Yesterday I burned the fresh broad beans in the process. My kitchen poooos !!

Good afternoon to all! Did they get the dog to blend in with the floor stain, or did they stain the hardwood to blend in with the dog? I just hate these philosophical questions, don't you?

On a lighter note, just to prove I'm not biased against the Irish, let's poke fun at AUSTRALIANS today..... 3 jokes follow:

"What?" More...

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was
