I have a large tin of old pennies and half pennies. I wonder if they would bring me luck? 24/May/11 12:02 AM |  |
 Good Maen, all. 24/May/11 12:09 AM |  |
What wonderful color this must provide to the outback! Thanks Wendy. Pink feather duster! 24/May/11 12:09 AM |  |
Reminds me of a "Hot Poker" Karen - if you have a "lucky dime" there is a station in town that will sell you a gallon of gas for 20 cents. Dimes must be "Mercury Dimes" - their silver content is much greater than 20 cents. 24/May/11 12:09 AM |  |
Me too, June. Don't think I have half pennies, but there is one or two with a BB hole in them and a ton of wheat pennies. 24/May/11 12:10 AM |  |
everyone! The answer to yesterday's puzzle/rebus was: What goes up must come down. Plenty of correct answers from Captain J, HalT, Keith, Canuk Greg, Grass-hopper, CP, Sarah and the Phantom! In keeping with "Lucky Penny More... 24/May/11 12:14 AM |  |
Looks like I need to go to bed and get up on the other side. I had two crying Things this morning at school. One did not want to go and became velcro, when we entered the building. Had to force her away from me, as that was happening the other Thing decided to fall and bust her lip open. Wonderful More... 24/May/11 12:18 AM |  |
Most old pennies have little value to collectors and are still worth only a penny, even 1800s pennies, as millions were made. Unless they are an odd stamping, uncirculated, or are from a nation that no longer exists, I see little chance of pennies being of much value. I have an old penny from 1901 from a now-defunct mint, and it is still not worth 2 cents. Literally. 24/May/11 12:21 AM |  |
better you than me, Karen! 24/May/11 12:21 AM |  |
Eve, I really don't know what coins I have. My dad, among many other things, collected coins. Maybe I should say, he collected change. There is no telling what I have in that room. When he died, I was a new mom, so I packed his stuff up and put in a room, with the intention of going through it More... 24/May/11 12:24 AM |  |

Jim, there is one penny, that I was told is worth some real money. If I was a good person I would tell you how much and the date. But I am not and my brain cell is full of fine, powdered surgar, so it is not working at this time. 24/May/11 12:26 AM |  |
Oh, Karen. I do remember those days. Patience, grasshopper! 24/May/11 12:27 AM |  |
Karen - fast forward 10 years, to high school. The velco is gone and replaced with some sort of magnetic "keep away field" which parents apparently omit and is only sensed by teen children. This means that if any other teen is near, your child either vanishes or suddenly has no idea who More... 24/May/11 12:28 AM |  |
Heidi, are you snickering at me? Well, at this point, that is all I can do too.. What else can I do? Cry, that will only give me a headache. Get mad, at what? So, Thing II and I are/were having fun cleaning up. 24/May/11 12:28 AM |  |
BTW the Redbirds are back in first place. So I am flying the banner. 24/May/11 12:29 AM |  |
 Oh, look what I did. Hehehe, I needed that. 24/May/11 12:30 AM |  |
Oh, it was so hard to push my little velcro child away this morning. I so wanted to take both my little darlings back home with me and never be seperated again. (I will be singing a different tone next week, this is the last week of school). 24/May/11 12:32 AM |  |
When my father died I found a small box of coins he had saved and did and on-line search and found they had a value of a few hundred dollars. I came to believe they had once belonged to my step-great-grandfather, who had given me a set of Roosevelt dimes as a gift when I was a boy. The best are a More... 24/May/11 12:33 AM |  |
The busy hands child allowed me, a bit to play. That was nice of her. Now, to see what the very, very quiet child is up to. 24/May/11 12:33 AM |  |
I cannot even begin to fathom 89 + dead in Joplin from a tornado. My heart goes out to that town. It will take a long time to recover. 24/May/11 12:33 AM |  |
 Oh, darn. So sorry.Above posts, Mommy Tales.That might be a little late. 24/May/11 12:34 AM |  |
 everyone! 24/May/11 12:36 AM |  |
Enjoy these days, Karen! I know it'll seem impossible but when your kids are grown up and married and gone, you'll miss those "velcro" days! Even the powdered sugar everywhere days! 24/May/11 12:38 AM |  |
I don't usually collect stuff, but I started collecting the new quarters because of the different states. Then I thought wouldn't be a nice gift to give a complete collection to sons, grandson, and so on. So I collected 5 of each. I have all the states except still need two more Arizona, and the territories, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and of course, DC. 24/May/11 12:47 AM |  |
I found an 1887 dime in the fill dirt they brought in when we built our sunroom a couple of years ago. I always wondered about who lost it. 24/May/11 12:52 AM |  |
So very sorry to hear that the death count in Joplin has gone so high. In the middle of the night when I got up to see where the rumbling up here in Michigan was coming from on the weather channel the count was at 43. 24/May/11 12:55 AM |  |
Teens aren't so very different from toddlers. There were two impromptu baseball games going on in our neighborhood last night. One was our young grandchildren and our neighbor kid playing their own version of baseball and the other version was graduates at a graduation party next door - both doing the same thing at a not much different level! 24/May/11 1:05 AM |  |
Ok... Who has Arthritis???A drunk man who smelled like beer sat down on a subway next to a priest. The man's tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick, and a half-empty bottle of gin was sticking out of his torn coat pocket. He opened his newspaper and began reading. Good Maen, good people. I can't get enough of the fragrant outdoor air. I am finally en plien printemps. Dogwood, lilac, honeysuckle. Mmmmmm. 24/May/11 1:22 AM |  |
The delicate bleeding hearts are in bloom, too. I've been finding new wildflowers on my walks I haven't found before, too, because I've been walking some different paths. 24/May/11 1:24 AM |  |
