Isn't that frustrating, John? Hate it when that happens! Makes you understand why that guy shot his lawn mower when it wouldn't start!

Almost.

My Weasley clock reports this morning 1 at work, 2 at school, 1 sick on the couch, 1 kicking mom in the ribs, and 1 mom procrastinating on the computer.

Baking Day Shiela. I am going to try to make one of those Jello-poke cakes. I seem to recall something special about the frosting, but I can't find my recipe. Can anyone lend a hand?

Shiela He used a 45 cause the mower wasn't runing.

Be right over, Jill, but don't have the recipe! What flavor Jello?
25/Mar/09 12:26 AM

Googled it, Jill. Whipped Topping!

Jill~

Stir 1 cup boiling water into gelatin (4-serving box) at least two minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in 1/2 c cold water. Carefully pour over cake. Refrigerate 3 hours. Frost with whipped topping. Refrigerate at least one hour or until ready to serve. Enjoy!

I was hoping for strawberry, but will be content with whatever the cupboard yields. Googled it and they just say whipped cream. Might need to get inventive as there is no whip cream in the house.

Thanks Mumo! It seems we were typing at the same time.

Oh you snuck in there too Shiela. Apparently all 3 of our great minds are thinking alike!

John, do you mean to say it wasn't RUNNING or it wouldn't START? Ours usually starts, but it doesn't run unless hubby does it. I never thought of shooting it because hubby didn't have the poor thing running!!!

Looks like I got here just in time...

I'll come back when the baking is done. Talk of food does not help me stick to my diet!

Not Fair Jane! I had my head stuck in the cupboard!
25/Mar/09 12:39 AM

Drat and Double Drat. The cupboard was un-cooperative it only gave up 1 box of orange jello and a chocolate cake mix. Grocery store here I come!
25/Mar/09 12:40 AM

I am SOOooo glad, Jill! Some chocolate-orange combinations are fantastic... like Godiva Chocolate liqueur and Mandrin Orange Absolut in a Martini glass, but NOT chocolate cake & orange Jello!
25/Mar/09 12:48 AM
 |  |

Couldn't help but check back. I think chocolate cake with orange jello would be fantastic if you had a couple tablespoons of freshly grated orange peel to add to the cake mix and if you substituted orange juice for all or half of the water. Oh, and I'd add a handful of chocolate chips, too. Drat! There goes my diet!!!

1:51 Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

Be open to whatever life brings your way. There is real treasure to be found in it all.
25/Mar/09 1:03 AM
 |  |

You may be right, Jane. Making the orange taste more like the natural orange MIGHT work.
25/Mar/09 1:05 AM
 |  |

John, send me THAT recipe!!!
25/Mar/09 1:06 AM

I don't like to drool, especially on the first page...and without a napkin but....drool...drool...somehow a banana doesn't have the oomph of a piece of chocolate cake.
(There was a programme on TV last night stating that dark choccy widens your arteries, I consider mine to be the width of the Amazon now).

I just might give it a try. I've got all the ingredients at hand. Jaime is going to be so surprised to find a dessert for dinner tonight. He usually has to smuggle in his own sweets when I'm in "diet mode". lol

I'm sure it wasn't the wine flowing...
25/Mar/09 1:08 AM

Now then, when do you add the gelatin? When the cake is still hot right out of the oven? And do you poke holes in it to absorb the gelatin?
25/Mar/09 1:10 AM
 |  |

Oh, this is going to be a baaaaaaaaaaaaad day. Thanks, ladies!!!
25/Mar/09 1:10 AM
 |  |

Better take a long bike ride first.....
25/Mar/09 1:13 AM
 |  |

No, no Jane. Wait until the cake completely cools, then poke holes using the handle of a wooden spoon. Sorry but my hubby's dear ole Auntie is 75 so tonight we will celebrate with her. I planned to decorate the top with fresh strawberries, together with jell-o doesn't that count as a fruit and thus healthify things a bit?

Well, I missed First post, and I missed 22. So that means. . .
