Good Maen, one and all.

Been running about 95-97F everyday,
but today is supposed to be only 90F and windy.

Hope that make packing the PODS/Pack Rat easier.

I have a daylily that is in bloom right now that is taller than I am! The bloom stalks are over 5 feet tall! It's called 'Sears Tower' and is a cadmium yellow color. It's size is impressive even from the road.

'Dad, where had you been?' asked Robin.

'I had been to the attic, my son,' replied Dad. 'And do you know what I saw there? There was a big web with 9 spiders and flies on it.'

'How many spiders were there?' asked the little More...

Hi all,
Missed all the puzzles and comments yesterday. Reason: You may have heard, we had a bit of an earthquake here in Napa yesterday! No power, no internet. Fortunately I had no structural damage, just lots of stuff on the floor and some broken glass items.

G'day mates.
Here's today's daffynition:
summer — abacus
And here's today's factoid:
A beaver can chop down as many as 216 trees per year.

Glad to hear you're safe, Denny. That was all the bay area news could talk about all day yesterday. Lots of damage, but because it happened in the middle of the night, minimal serious injuries.

Must have been frightening, Denny!
Glad you are safe!

Denny, thank goodness, that is all the damage you had. Did not care for the news reports, sounded horrible.
I am sure, like I would be, you are shaken up.

Kayo, welcome back with the factoids and daffynitions. I do look forward to those, and seeing you.

Think I am doing pretty good, so far, today. By 9 AM, the West side of the house was cleaned. A task that can take anywhere from 3 to 4 hours, to 3 to 4 days to clean. It is the girl's side of the house.
I had just gone into their rooms, to check for dirty laundry, which surprisingly was very little and ended up cleaning.

The rest of the house, was a breeze to clean. Trash taken to the road, without rushing to beat the truck, shower taken, with both legs shaved, all the way, machines doing their duties and dinner prep has been completed, and thoughts of actually baking an afternoon snack, for when my darlings return.

At 9, change over time here, I sat down to see what was happening in the world, but had a strong urge to contact one of my teachers. Not totally ready to let the teachers know, they have one of 'those' mothers, I popped back up. I could not stand it any longer and contacted M's teacher, to find out More...

Kitties are doing their best to keep me occupied, by chasing the broom, scattering the piles I sweep up or helping me on the computer. Have pictures, but both computers and camera seem to be not communicating with each other today.

Hey, Denny, what kind of shake up did you get? The 'rolling' kind the one where you feel your stomach do a bit of a drop or the 'shaking' kind where you feel rattled?

Glad you're OK, Denny!

As for your question, Karen, yes I have started volunteering last week! Found I have a very antsy kindergarten group to work with! No hour activity, we're lucky if we get a half hour then it's free time! I even had them go out of the class room for a bit of an observation.

Heidi and Shosho - think of 'summer' as one who sums numbers. And the abacus is an ancient Chinese calculator.

Yippee! I got an email. Only two hours after I sent mine. I know, I am not important. The teacher's priority is my little girl, but she handled me, so well.
Informed me, my baby made it school and is safe. That she an inspirational child and good listener. A great role model for other students.
That teacher is good.

Only 2 1/2 hours to go, with being prepared, from last years experience, that the bus could be late on the trip home, on the first day.

Kitties have totally knocked everything but a box of markers and my lap top off my make-shift desk. I made the mistake, of picking everything up, and putting back on the large stool, only to have them knock it all off again. I have left the mess, and the kitties have not returned to the computer.

Shelby is missing her girls. She keeps getting up from her naps and going to their room to check on the girls. Then she returns to a different spot for a nap.
She does give Furry (K's cat)a dirty look. Furry has chosen Shelby's chair as a good napping spot. Shelby is not happy.
