Tie game at the end of the 9th inning. Now, when the game must go into extra innings, there is a rain delay! There have been thunderstorms over lower Michigan all evening and now they are bearing down on Cleveland. There is a tarp on the field. Everyone is pointing out that these two teams know how to wait!

I hate baseball! It is the second most boring spectator sport. (Chess being slightly more boring.) Anyway, I decided to watch the Chicago/Cleveland game tonight and I've discovered something I never noticed before.

Baseball players spit a lot.

I'm going to bed. The game will probably still be tied when I sign on in the morning.

You haven't watched much cricket then, Hal?

Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs and their fans. They won the World Series in 10 innings by a final score of 8-7.

Oh, Dottie. The Indians' turn will come. It was SO close.

There's nothing wrong with watching One Day Matches, Peter. It's the Test matches that are boring.

Anne, My favourite line when I get a scam call is to say, 'Why don't you get a proper job and stop trying to rip off people'.

Congratulations to the Cubs. It must have been an exciting finish. I watched a bit of the match, when the Indians scored two runs from a home run and the score became 6 all. The way they carried on put me right off, so I switched off.

Growing up, and later as an adult, baseball was my game as a player and later as a coach. I loved it, and still do, in fond memories. But I have to agree with Hal that most of the time, as a spectator, it's not a whole lot more exciting than watching paint dry. However, there are moments. Game 7 More...

Hello Wombat - I've never said anything like that before and I've received a couple of those 'accident' calls recently. Naturally, it was a non-Aussie accent which annoys me more.

Condolences to Dottie! Although baseball games can sometimes be a tad dull, this seventh game of the World Series was anything but boring, starting right off with a home run and ending in an extra inning after a rain delay. When teams have not won since 1908 and 1948, a lot of celebration is More...

I can hold my hand up to those too, Wombat.

Yes Anne, the One Day Game and the Big Bash are good to watch. Test cricket, while I like to know what is going on, I couldn't sit and watch it for hours at a time like some folk do.

Wallabies play Wales on the weekend. Should be an interesting game.

The Wallabies are looking to complete a Grand Slam but I have my doubts.

When I saw there were 66 comments, I knew who the last one would be. It's probably been your number for ages, Peter, like Keith's 22 but I hadn't been around to realise.

Cricket back in the 70's was great to watch, now I'd rather watch grass grow which is about what happens.

This is for the Australians among us - who has NBN? And are you happy with it?
I just signed us up today, it will be changed over next week. Not sure what to think but it is inevitable so why fight it.
I just know there will be teething problems.

We have NBN and it is rubbish.
My phone has faster and better connectivity.
Big word aye???

We have NBN. The level we have is slightly faster than the previous ADSL 2. We are on 25 Megabits/sec but that depends on how many people are online. The more users the slower the speed. We could have a faster service but it costs more. If you download movies to your TV you need to make sure More...

That's what I'm concerned about, Mr Cee, but they assured me it will be much faster than my ADSL2 which is usually okay, but only just passable in peak times.

Without even having it yet, I totally agree with you Peter about who's to blame. Second rate, indeed. And we are only 'fttn - fibre to the node'.
But not as badly off as many in the new estates around us who signed up for Telstra Velocity - some kind of smart technology including 'fttp - fibre More...

Depends on what level you buy, CynB. Ours is fttn and it is not 'much faster' it is slightly faster than ADSL 2.

CynB, just checked our speed - 23.5 Mb/sec ADSL 2 was about 5Mb/sec.

Our ADSL is almost 7mb/sec which I can handle until peak times. I must check that this weekend.
It's amazing what we put up with when we have no choice, isn't it?
