G'day mates,Here's today's factoid: Cincinnati was so famous for its hog industry in the 1830's that it was nicknamed ''Porkopolis''. 03/Apr/14 12:02 AM |  |
Here's today's real quick. I'll post yesterday's answers when I get back. See if you can figure out the words in this 'pyramid' using the hints given below. Each new word contains the same letters as the previous word, plus a new letter. Order need not be preserved. 1) Fifth More... 03/Apr/14 12:03 AM |  |
J&K had a quiet day today, recharging the batteries for the trip to Canberra tomorrow. Tonight we had a lovely meal in a restaurant watching the ferries go up and down the harbour. We have enjoyed having the ladies stay with us and will miss them when they continue with their travels. 03/Apr/14 12:04 AM |  |
That looks like a Calvin and Hobbes character. 03/Apr/14 12:06 AM |  |

Is that double Ribbit! Ribbit! It looks like two artificial frogs. 03/Apr/14 12:31 AM |  |
Seeing that Shosho isn't here to take the 13 for me, I'll take it myself. Now off to have a relaxing bath after playing badminton this evening. 03/Apr/14 12:32 AM |  |
 I love it when I break the site! 03/Apr/14 1:06 AM |  |
Double ribbit indeed. A picture I took of one of those pops up on the Kids puzzles every so often. 03/Apr/14 2:11 AM |  |
I would really like to thank all of you who wished me happy birthday. Kieth, Kathy, Greg. Anne, Amelia, Kate, Viv, CP, and June. I hope I didn't miss anyone. My daughters took me to a Japanese message polar. It was fantastic. 03/Apr/14 2:27 AM |  |
everyone!Well, my old computer has finally given up the ghost. I am relegated to using my Kindle Fire until the new one is ordered and set up. My computer time will certainly be curtailed, which is probably not a bad thing. 03/Apr/14 2:54 AM |  |
Would ''computer time'' curtailed be ''compute time?'' 03/Apr/14 3:00 AM |  |
I hope you have backup so you didn't lose anything important, Kathy. Setting up and getting everything just right is annoying and frustrating, but after that's all done, you'll be so happy to have a new computer. May you pick exactly the right one for your needs. 03/Apr/14 3:14 AM |  |
 Well ... look where we are. 03/Apr/14 3:14 AM |  |

 Happy Wednesday! 03/Apr/14 3:25 AM |  |
Ribbitt is right! I think it's a frog, but maybe two? Very hard to figure out. 03/Apr/14 3:48 AM |  |
Everything is backed up, Keith. It's just a pain typing on this little keyboard. I won't be making long comments for awhile, that's for sure. 03/Apr/14 3:53 AM |  |
Something I've noticed is the 'auto-correct' on this thing goes nuts upon occasion. One of my answers to Serena's pyramid was changed to 'February'. Not even close! 03/Apr/14 4:11 AM |  |
 There should be a way to dis-able 'auto-correct'. Sometimes it can be a pain in the a\$\$. 03/Apr/14 4:40 AM |  |
I just did some research and discovered how to reject an auto-correct suggestion on touch screen: tap the suggestion bubble, it will disappear without changing what you've written. The problem is, you have to get into the habit of paying attention to those little bubbles as they appear, before you hit the space bar to finish a word. 03/Apr/14 4:56 AM |  |
On the iPad, you go to Settings, General, Keyboard, and slide the Auto-correction switch/bubble to the left. 03/Apr/14 4:58 AM |  |
Yes, I figured that out, Keith. But getting in the habit certainly IS the problem! You may be seeing some very strange comments from me. 03/Apr/14 5:03 AM |  |
It's different on the Kindle Fire, but the same idea. Options come up above the keyboard and you touch the one you want. IF you remember to do it! If you don't, on some words, it just changes them. 03/Apr/14 5:09 AM |  |
