saylz,I checked out the songs. So how was Pretty Flamingo not an instant classic? The video for Do Wah Diddy was hilarious to watch. Always learning something new here.

It was at the time. I saw Manfred Mann when they toured Australia in 1963? They broke up shortly thereafter into two bands, The Manfred Mann Earthband and Manfred neither of which was very successful which probably accounts for their lack of fame now. I suppose I was in way lucky to have been a teenager in the sixties as I saw the Beatles and Rolling Stones both at the peak of their success.

Who would have thought that Mick would still be rockin' his ugly mug all these years later? I somehow missed the whole Beatles thing growing up, more of a Motown girl.

saylz, if you are asking about 'Splendour in the Grass' it is causing all sorts of havoc here. The traffic jam (& I do mean more than 2 cars at an intersection) went for miles!!! Everyone seems to be having a great time, esp the local shops. Thank goodness the rain stopped, somehow 'Splendour in the Mud' doesn't sound as appealing.

Despite almost being an old age pensioner, I listen to Triple J in the morning and it seems it was taking 5 hours to get from Brisbane to wherever it is being held. (Is it near Kilcoy)

Saylz - my sister was living in Melbourne at the time the Beatles played there and she went to their concert. She said there were people dropping in faints all around her and you could hardly hear them from the screaming.

saylz - I, too, saw the Beatles, Rolling Stones (twice) and Manfred Mann. Not to mention Gerry and the Pacemakers, Roy Orbison and whoever else graced our provincial shores in the sixties.
I won't mention age lest Phantom reminds me again that I'm getting old.

I was in Sydney, so it was at the Stadium. There were some great acts. Roy Orbison, P J Proby, Marianne Faithful, Joe Cocker, Cilla Black, Herman's Hermits.Used to go to Surf City most Friday nights where Billy Thorpe headlined. Best I ever saw however was later (1979) Bette Midler at the State More...

Amelia, I don't know whether I mentioned when you were down here, most of my childhood holidays were spent at Nelsons Bay. I can remember standing in the receding waves and catching the hugest pippis under your feet.

Friday at work was slack but Friday night with 7 harness meetings, an Aussie Rules match as well Parramatta to keep tabs on means I've got a lot of channel surfing to do. And I'm still waiting for someone to bring home tea after doing the housekeeping on the pokies.
