Other than the obvious, Andre ... ... in baseball, the home base is usually referred to as home plate ... where the batter stands to the side, the pitcher throws from the front, and the catcher and umpire stand behind. Both of the latter two wear those protective shin guards you can see in the photo ... along with VERY strong cups ...

Pa had been umpiring this day. (Pa was a catcher years ago!). Laura will probably start T ball in a few years time.
