Lovely photo but I can't tell if they are elephants in South Africa or wild brumbies in the Northern Territory, which is what I think they are. 11/Oct/18 12:05 AM |  |
Fi, is this one of your photos? I just noticed you were on the site. 11/Oct/18 12:24 AM |  |

Wild brumbies are just wild horses. In the Australian Alps they cause erosion which results in the silting of dams, damage to turbines and more rapid snow melt. These are the economic reasons the Snowy Mountain Authority banned cattle grazing in NSW Kosciuszko National Park. 11/Oct/18 6:56 AM |  |
I vote for horses - elephants are more likely to be in the water rather than around the edges of it. 11/Oct/18 3:24 PM |  |
These are not necessarily wild horses. It is quite common to see stock horses gathered about a dam like this. Indeed, a photo similar to this could have been taken on the Queensland cattle station my brothers used to manage. 11/Oct/18 3:41 PM |  |
Thank you Les for the explanation. Now I know what wild brumbies are. 12/Oct/18 7:42 AM |  |
