A path that I really liked so I thought I would share (found using Andrew Stuart's sudoku solver with y-wings and xy-chains turned off):

1. Start UP 22. Basic techniques to UP 44.
2. (5)e5=(5)d45-(5)d1=(5)def3-(5)j3=(5)g12 => g5<>5 UP81
