 SE=7.1 BTW: I just finished posting SE rated for all tough puzzles (last comment). 11/Sep/10 12:08 AM |  |
 Beautiful mountain photo, Wendy! Why was it called Sulphur Mountain? 11/Sep/10 12:09 AM |  |
 1)Start at 23,SSTS to UP=342)YWS:((6=9)g7-i8=(9-6)f8=(6)c8,=>b7f8<>6.UP=363)YW:(1=9)e7-(9=7)f8-(7=1)a8,=>a b7<>1.UP=81 11/Sep/10 12:37 AM |  |
 1.SST to UP=342.(9=167)acf8-(1)ab7=e7 => e7<>9; UP=81. 11/Sep/10 12:39 AM |  |
 sotir: the rating yesterday was 7.2, today 7.1; but this one is easily solved with one chain compared to yesterday's five - why so close in rating? (is it because of the large number of SST to UP=34?). 11/Sep/10 12:44 AM |  |
 32:41 11/Sep/10 1:00 AM |  |
 farpointer:Maybe the large number of SSTS is one reason,but IMO this depend on the methods usedby Sudoku Explainer Solver to solve.For example:tough puzzle Apr.14,SE=9.0 is solved only with onestep, when SE Solver use 7 kraken techniques .So SE rating not always express the real difficulty. 11/Sep/10 1:35 AM |  |
 I can see for miles and miles.... 11/Sep/10 2:10 AM |  |
 another example - 7.3 extreme #207 is quickly solved with a chain and a kraken:1.SST to UP=392.(6)i5=(6-7)g5=g3-i3=HT(167)i158 => i5=763.Kraken Cell(589)b9 => b4<>5; UP=81(8)b9-c7=c45-(38=5)ab5||(9)b9-h9=h6-HP(48)dh6=(4-5)f7=f4. 11/Sep/10 2:38 AM |  |
 7:23 Maen! Pretty easy one today! Gorgeous photo, too! 11/Sep/10 2:54 AM |  |
 There must be a waterfall in there some place. 11/Sep/10 3:44 AM |  |
 Spectacular! Thought this was a Rocky Mountain! 11/Sep/10 5:54 AM |  |
 9:16, an easy one today. Great photo! 11/Sep/10 6:40 AM |  |
 1. Note pair 28 at ef1 and later triple 157 at bcd5.Unique possibilities to 34.2. If f4=9,locked 6s at f78,g9=6,g7=9;top middle box is devoid of 9. So f4=6.UP81.I found step 1 pretty hard going, compared to step 2. 11/Sep/10 5:59 PM |  |
 Hi All, It seems to me, without a detailed check, that the SE rating for a puzzle is based on the rating for the most complex step. Best regards, Neil 11/Sep/10 7:52 PM |  |
