I'm starting to think that if I could notate why a certain chain won't work, then that would constitute a proof as to why the remaining sole or unique candidate will work.
Is that ever done in working out proofs or am I just trying to justify guessing?

That's how I write my proofs. When I don't see anything I start guessing so I can see what works and what doesn't work, and see why something doesn't work. From that I can see chains that eliminate options that don't work.

Catalina Isl - a lovely place. Too bad it has so many tourists. though, I don't think the local businesses would like them to disappear.
