got stuck up a little bit....13:23
 |  |
Good morning I cannot believe I am the second comment. Love the puzzle...hooked!! Ericsonz, don't feel bad I did not get stuck and my time was 20:09 Enjoy the day.
 |  |
8.03 - seemed like simple elimination to me?
 |  |
This was quick, 9:21. Enjoy the rest of the day everybody.
 |  |
Finally solved a tough pretty easily, with no guesses!
 |  |
22:37 I don't recall needing an FC on this one. Perhaps I made a lucky mistake. I wonder what the benefit of that roof design might be, besides cosmetic appeal.
 |  |
14:35 Got stuck...had to make one guess.
 |  |
Managed to complete without guessing, but feel too slow to time though. Seasons greetings to all.

 |  |
same as yesterday, up to minor changings. So probably needs a pentagon at 53 filled...
 |  |
16:52 Seems I can never do these tough ones in under 15 minutes.
 |  |
Hi to all. No mistakes. Decent time.
 |  |
GB?
This one needs a 'trick' at 59(!) filled...are you sure is resembles yesterday's?
 |  |
21:51 different photo

5:34 - on to the Toughie
 |  |
Oops - that was the toughie! Must have been an easy solution.
 |  |
27, give or take. Today the easier puzzles were harder, and the harder ones easier.
 |  |
Hi Bucko,
it IS the same : easy fillings to 51 filled, looking at c1, eliminate c9=4, then easy to 53 filled, then looking at 7 in Bh8 eliminate e6=7, then easy to end.
Yesterday was : easy fillings to 51 filled, looking at h2, eliminate b2=9, then easy to 53 filled, then looking at 4 in Bb8 eliminate f5=4, then easy to end.

13:56. Had my kid behind me wanting the computer and The Wizard of Oz is on TV; had to hurry, hurry, hurry. I made a bunch of mistakes which lead to some guessing, but stll working on the logic. See you all tomorrow and have a great day.
 |  |
I thought I did this one with no FCs, 'tricks' or 'guesses'. Maybe I made a mistake! I'll have to try it again.
 |  |

 |  |
punched wrong button
I agree ANNE about difficulty
 |  |
I tried again, gb...and I do not want to disappoint you (plus I trust you!), but I got to 59 filled straight away AGAIN. The question now is: can I do that with yesterday's too?
 |  |
Hi Buckso and Gb!:
No trick at 59, no FC, only pairs and everything gently disappears (first 3's then 6's)) to the end. Same process as yesterday.
 |  |
gb, simple eliminations all they way thru - twice. If I'm making a mistake, at least I'm consistent... 21:40 standard Hard level time for me...
 |  |
Please Bucko, can you write down your straight fillings ? Mine stop at 51. I promise to check yours.
 |  |
Who'd have guessed it at Christmas? I'm watching the Wizard of Oz too! (And fighting off the junior computer hogger! And making guesses!)
One more week to go, and then it's all over till next year. I'm going to spend all day next Monday playing sudoku.
 |  |
No pentagon at any time
 |  |
I made an appointment with my shrink tomorrow.
The third time I couldn't do it anymore??????!!! Stopped at 53 indeed...

I'll try it again after tomorrow...sorry gb
 |  |
7:14 Very easy. Just fill it in.
 |  |
right SA from NM, I'll try for 7.14!
 |  |
okay you were right sa, although I didn't believe you at first - I did the puzzle in 4.18 with 3.20 for set up, so just about your time - must be an easy one today, usually they take me about 15.00! Hi Bucko, are we still talking??
 |  |
Would somebody please explain what all this pentagon jargon is?
 |  |
gb, OK I was very careful this time, my third... When filled to 53, I did use what one might qualify as an fc. a1=458 a7=c7=c1=48 so a1=5. I have a screen save if you need to check my work. It could still have an error...
 |  |
5:32 Agree that the toughie is easy today.
 |  |
some questions from a newbie. In yesterday's comments I noted 'I needed an FC at 53'. Could someone translate to English? I presume the 53 is number of squares with a single number, but have no idea of what 'FC' means.

 |  |
13:05 and I thought this was straight elimination. I did not do anything fancy once I set it up.
 |  |
To all those who don't understand the lingo - go to Proofs at top right of page, click on it and you'll see a link to Bruno's proofs. bruno is aka gb and is our resident guru. Hi gb - you said you'd not be posting so often - hope all's well
