Reminds me of Bendigo's Chinese heritage from the goldfields days. 150 years ago and even with generations of intermarriage there's this this strong cultural link with the past. Sun Loong the dragon and lions come out now for Bendigo's Easter Parade which isn't too far away from Chinese New Year. More...

Yes Ian, one of mine. A Chinese Lion at the Chinese New year Parade in Sydney in February. The parade was February 11th though I believe New Year's Day was 18th February. It is now the Year of the Pig.

Missed the dragon dances for this new year's celebrations. But saw some photos of the dragons in Maui--very colourful those were. Plus, due to all the construction in our fair city, we were fortunate in avoiding a near disaster when the winds blew sheets of plywood off roofs.

My family are all born in Years of the Horse! I've often wondered if that is significant in any way. My husband and I are both Fire Horses and our daughter is a Water Horse.
