How about using 'alt' & 'title' tags to give us some information on the pictures once we've solved it. You should be able to work it into your JavaScript easily enough.

nic from syd - my time was 4.57 to do the actual puzzle, add another 4 mins to set up - I think Brick counted like me, just the puzzle, not the set up, so his time isn't necessarily bull!! This was not a particulary complicated one either. And no funny fish either!

I am anxious to see what a few of the others that post proofs say. I had to use an XY wing to solve. I am hoping that I used it correctly and I didn't just get lucky. I am going to try again and see if I made a mistake in setup that overly complicated things.

I thought it was harder than yesterday and had to use two FCs. Mike, what is an XY wing? I don't even understand an X wing. I always revert to FCs which for me basically amount to a 'wrong guess.'

Same as dec 11th up to minor changes.
1) easy to 28 filled.
2) looking at 7 in Bh5, at 37 in b7c7, at 16 in g1g2, eliminate some possibles.
3) looking at 12 in c8c9, at 38 in g5c5, eliminate some possibles.
4) looking at 9 in Ce, eliminate b5=6. Now easy to 41 filled.
5)looking at 38 More...

I am down to about 20 minutes per puzzle after doing them for 3 months. I start the timer when I begin. Can't distinguish setup time from solving time as I often solve while setting up. This site is definitely my favorite for doing the daily Sudoku!

Also, I didn't realize that some people didn't include the set-up time in their final time. That gives me hope! I've always included my set-up time in my final.

The XY Wing is when you have number pairs in adjoining blocks that have the numbers xy, xz, and yz. 25:51. First time I've timed myself. No guessing, no set up time. I've never hear of the xy, yz, etc. thing.

I don't bother with names like 'X Wing' or 'FC's - this puzzle was pretty easy with logic, so why make it complicated? I can see some out there seem to find them very useful, and that's their privelege, but personally, I just hate all the Jargon that creeps into everthing these days. Just enjoy More...
