JC Van Hay: On this site, the convention for row/column address of cells is based on origin lower left (your r9c1) with Y-axis up 1..9 and X-axis right a..i; so r9c1 becomes a1. IMO marginally more concise and readable.

I know what you're thinking Alfred - why didn't I just say so in the first place - well...the formal way dots the i's and often yields collateral eliminations and loops which aren't evident in the forcing chain.

g9=7 when f8=3; you are reading the kraken backwards Alfred- clearly I abused the word thinking in my previous post.
when f8=3:
1.e9<>8 (as a human observer you must agree)
2.g9=7 (this is probably difficult for a human to see - hence the chain f6=6, h9=6, g9=7)
3.h2=3 and More...

since there are two typos in previous post, I have been permitted to lay out the kraken in way that humans, who can only scan a data stream left to right, might understand:
f8=3 & e9<>3
f8=3 & h2=3 & h9<>3
f8=3 & f6=6 & i9=6 & g9=7 & g9<>3
since one of e9,g9,h9 must be 3, f8<>3.

kraken logic is systematic and doesn't stumble around in the dark like this. One simply examines the end nodes of kraken chains, knowing, a priori, that anything that 'sees' all three points is false.

(just waking up here) I deduce Alfred didn't look at my kraken proof carefully, but only at the kraken which he so unfairly maligns. It starts with step 1 - b1<>9, the step proving h2=3 is skipped and merged into a kraken which solves the puzzle immediately. Obviously when h2 is solved the kraken is not required.

Alfred: compare your ('aha - that'll burn farpointer's memory chips') chain (which is incomplete as shown and proves nothing) to the kraken chain (which is complete and solves the puzzle):
f8=3& e9=9& h9=6&?? i9=7& g9=3 => ?

I did forget (unlike a computer) to add h2=3, after f8=3 in my chain.
The Kraken proof you give, (translated into English) is: Whether 3 occupies e9,g9 or h9; f8<>3.
Your chains do give that outcome, but a human can also see that 3 at g9 or h9 immediately force f8=3 in the top middle box. So, 2 elephants in the room this time; not a pure Kraken at all.

so what Alfred? to make a deduction here, you must show the contra-positive, not the obvious positive - surely you jest. You must show the humble reader that g9=3 and h9=3 forces f8<>3, NOT f8=3. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you understand this simple fact.

Please enlighten us Alfred. Show us your chains, using only gh9=3 forces f8=3, that prove f8<>3.

BTW - you didnt address the key question: what does your chain prove after you copy the first to legs of my kraken?.

then gh9=3 & f8=3.

I am disputing the name you attach to it (Kraken).You have proved that gh9=3 is false because they result in contradictions at f8, leaving e9=3 being true. Not so Alfred, the kraken only proves f8<>3 and nothing else. It is an irrelevant coincidence that f8 not being 3 determines the truth value of g9 and h9 and e9 - this is what you have never been able to grasp. No Alfred, the kraken does not result in contradictions at f8. This is backwards. f8=3 is an elimination, because to assert it, the kraken (3)gh9 which IS TRUE, would become false. f8=3 is not part of the kraken (with chains) at all. f8<>3 is merely one of the implications of the kraken.
