 Good Maen, Mr. Emu! Are they friendly, Kate? Or was it telephoto? 'EMU' around here means Eastern Michigan University! They were looking for a new mascot... I wonder if they found one??? 03/Jan/09 12:13 AM |  |
 GO EMUs!!! 03/Jan/09 12:21 AM |  |
 An emu followed us around the Tarongo Zoo a few years ago--that's a very large bird to have breathing down your neck ... could have been attracted to hubby's aftershave (heck, it works for me!)Have a great day/night, everyone. 03/Jan/09 1:33 AM |  |
 10:39 Maen! Not too difficult today... I wonder if the emu is really a mascot for some team, somewhere. 03/Jan/09 1:59 AM |  |
 Only basic techniques for today,=>UP=81Best Wishes and Happy New Year to All! 03/Jan/09 2:14 AM |  |
 Happy New Year to All! ttt 03/Jan/09 2:46 AM |  |
 1. Note pair 45 at ce6. Unique possibilities to 42.2. When g7=2,h5=2=i2, and central box is evoid of 2. So g7=1, and the rest is solved, (UP 81). 03/Jan/09 2:50 AM |  |
 Hi Alfred,Your step 2 is not necessary:After UP=42,we have g47=12,=>i2=2,f1=2....UP=81Regards 03/Jan/09 3:04 AM |  |
 looks telephoto--would have been for me. Maen all and happy New Year. 03/Jan/09 3:20 AM |  |
 Any bird with hollandaise in its name should be nervous. 03/Jan/09 4:06 AM |  |
 Although basic techniques solve this puzzle, after UP42, the wrap around chain (i)i5 = (1=2)g4 = (2)f4 - (2=1)d5, => e5<>1, g4<>9 and f5<>2, then locked 6's at ef7 and locked 9's at g12 lead to i2=2 and UP 81. 03/Jan/09 4:27 AM |  |
 20:33 I've actually sat down next to a sitting emu and hung out for a while. We were at a farm with very friendly and calm birds buying blown-out emu eggs which are very decorative. They are a dark teal green color on the outside and a paler seafoam green underneath -- and huge. 03/Jan/09 4:51 AM |  |
 Thought it was a peacock at first. 03/Jan/09 4:59 AM |  |
 Hi Sotir. On my grid, g4 could still be 129.How did you eliminate 9 from g4? Regards, Alfred. 03/Jan/09 7:23 AM |  |
 Sugar Plum, what have you done with the eggs now? In Oz, they used to decorate them by delicate carvings to expose the paler inner colour...then keep them in glass cases...long time ago! About the same time as American whalers were carving scrimshaw on whale bone.. 03/Jan/09 7:49 AM |  |
 Well, actually, as a family of artists I'm ashamed to say that all we've ever done is to put them in a basket with ostrich and rhea and goose eggs for an educational display. I did get some broken pieces of emu egg shell from the farm for my hubby to do some reverse cameo work -- he also used to More... 03/Jan/09 8:24 AM |  |

 I keep being tempted to get a pair of Emus or Rheas. Cool birds. Gentler than Ostriches. Only thing is, what would I do with them? 03/Jan/09 5:07 PM |  |
 Hi Alfred,d35=12,=>nt:dhi5=129,=>locked 9 at hi5,=>g4<>9.Sotir 03/Jan/09 6:16 PM |  |
 Thanks Sotir, I missed the triple on the 5th. rank.Regards, Alfred. 03/Jan/09 7:38 PM |  |
