It's the ever loveable Mr. 2008 Rat again!
Are we going to have the 2009 version of this wonderful parade, I wonder???

Dear Sudoku friends, I will not be submitting pictures of the 2009 Year of the Ox Parade. It is going to be a twilight parade this year on Sunday Night. The logistics of being in the city with a young child at night are just too tedious. And I simply do not feel like it right now anyway. If any of the other Sydneysiders want to go for it this year, please do!

Jan, the other floats have been on both the jigsaws and the sudoku over the past year - but you'd spend plenty of time looking for them! I don't know if the site finds comments in its search engine but all the titles contained the words 'Year of the Rat'

1)Start at 22,basic techniques to UP=36
3)(8):f7=f9-a9=b8-b4=i4,=>i7<> 8.UP=81

1. Note pair 12 at bc2. Unique possibilities to 37.
2. When h9=4,h6=8=a9,b8=6 and top right box is devoid of 6. So i9=4,d9=2 (UP 39).
3. If h6=8,a9=8=f7,b8=6,d8=9=h9=i4 and 2/8 have no place in column i. Hence h6=4 and UPs to 81.

My step 2. is not valid without showing that : when a9=4,b4=2,c6=4 and bottom left box is devoid of 4.

A night time parade in the summer sounds great right about now. It's 38F and drizzly, typical W. WA winter weather.

Hi All, I got to UP37 on basic techniques. Then 4 in b5 causes no 1 available in column b, so b5<>4 and UP=81. Best Regards, Neil
