 Hi, guys. I’ve posted a solution to the April 28 Tough which had no solution posted there. It’s not ttt’s, as far as I know. I haven’t checked his out yet; I wanted to do my own solution to it. Thanks for leaving it for me; it was my birthday puzzle !! 30/Aug/09 7:30 AM |  |
 1)Start at 22,basic techniques to UP=262)(2)g8=g2-(2=1)c2-d2=(1-4)d1=f3-f4=(4)g4,=>g8<>4.UP=81 30/Aug/09 8:48 AM |  |
 Hi Sotir. Must be missing something again.How does g8<>4 help?Here is another path for step 2):If f4=3,f9=7=a8,i8=5,g4=4=i6 and top left box is devoid of 4.So f4=4.UPs to 81.Regards,Alfred. 30/Aug/09 10:29 AM |  |

 Alfred,after g8<>4,=>ai8=45,=>locked 7's at ab9,=>f9=3...UP=81Regards,Sotir 30/Aug/09 3:08 PM |  |
 Thanks Sotir.Can see it now.Alfred. 30/Aug/09 3:58 PM |  |
 Maen! 13 minutes. Not a place for skinny-dipping! For one times sake the force was with me! The basic techniques took me to something like UP26 with several known hidden pairs. Then if f3=4 in about two step we get 45 locked into ab7 as well i78, which is clearly impossible. UP 81 Hmm. Looks like the logic is very close to Alfred's, except that his is cleaner, as usual :-) 30/Aug/09 4:58 PM |  |
 15:35, all. 30/Aug/09 7:00 PM |  |
 Same elimination as Alfred's, slightly different logic: 1) start 22 UP 242a) (NT348)c456 => c28ab45<>3482b) (NP69)ab4 => ab5,efg4<>69 UP 263) (4)f4 = g4 - g8 = (HP45-HP57)ai8 = (7)de8 - (7=3)f9 => f4<>3 UP 81 30/Aug/09 8:01 PM |  |
