Mourning Doves are such quietly elegant birds. I had a hunter ask me yesterday if he could hunt on 50 acres I just bought. It is full of Doves, quail and pheasant. I said no. These birds need a refuge, they're too beautiful and they are not in my way.

Good for you, Heidi! I am NOT a fan of "sport" hunting!

They tried to approve a hunting season on mourning doves in Michigan a couple of years ago. It was voted down. I think they just wanted live targets because there wouldn't be much meat on them.

I do believe that CG's comment was political!

I'm not a hunter, but with the number of doves that visit my backyard I sometimes wonder if, just maybe,...
