I couldn't work out what the photo was going to be until it came fully into view.
A pretty pink and grey galah. Hello Cocky!!

Hi Anne, playing suduko on a Sat night-tragic!
 |  |
Beautiful bird.

A proof for tough sudoku of 02 04 2007:

1) Start at 23 filled - the given puzzle. Unique Possibilities to 28 filled. (UP 28).
2a) Hidden pair 78 at b6c5 forbids b6=46, c5=269
2b) Locked 7's at h79 forbids g79=7
2c) {hidden pair 69 at ai5} == df5=6 -- f4=6 == f4=2 -- ef4=2 More...

Typically, proofs are offered here with no clues as to how to find the steps taken. I will slowly try to change that:

Step 2c is an interesting one:
At depth 4, - as presented - it can be seen as a hidden Sue De Cox, or a mutli-hub and spoke. As such, they take lots of practice to More...

I agree Anne these bird are very pretty but also very destructive just ask anyone who grows table grapes or almonds, its like a war zone around here at the moment with all the scare guns going off from dawn till dusk .
 |  |

Pretty bird! Never seen/heard of before. Learned something new today.

For some information about the hub and spoke idea, the following link to a sudoku forum may shed some light:

I f you paste the link, remove the spaces that seem to get in the way here.

Hmmm. It seems the spaces are no longer a problem!

Hello Mary, what are you doing on here at this time of night???

Amelia, we now have them down here in Albany. At one time they were only right up north but have come right down to the south coast now.

Good morning to all! It is beautiful! Scare guns from dusk till dawn? I'm surprised they wander at night.

This is George after unwrapping his Christmas 2006 present - the big seed bell behind. He is very pleased. Like Schultz, George needs no help unwrapping his Christmas presents. George belongs to my parents-in-law. This year Schultz, experiencing his 13th Christmas, pushed to the front where we More...

Hello, George!

Have a great day everyone and those of you in North America, STAY WARM.
 |  |
So the term 'bird brain' is misused! Geroge seems smarter than some of my dates.
I takes me about 30 min to complete most of the tough sudokus. I guess I should continue to plough through Steve's explanations.

With this one, no techniques, tuples or otherwise were needed, as it fell into place before I'd placed all the possibles. Strange, because some puzszles that others report as 'easy' toughs, can take ages to solve?
 |  |
wow, threw us a really easy 'tough' today. a naked 9? usual routine, pointing pairs opened triples, I think 2 2-string kites broke open the rest of the puzzle. Not a bird person generally but pretty pic

Anne, the effort of staying awake long enough to even do the suduko was too much for me;I was unable to keep awake for your reply.
There is a lot of smoke around here today-hope it's all ok.
 |  |
That seemed very easy I was able to solve it with out using any techniques at all in under 10 mins
 |  |
never played before yesterday.I think i am addicted.I am a little slow and using check moves , but i intend to stop that soon .Great game!!!!!!
