It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started...
During a visit to the Mental Asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.
'Well,' said the Director, More...

'No.' said the Director, 'A normal person would pull the plug.

Good MAEN!! That looks like a Utah snowman. 15:34

Couldn't be more different than yesterday's ! A single elimination (depth 3) and then easy fillings to the end.

Do I really need to give any hint ? Well for those who are in a hurry (please others skip this)

1) easy to 26
2) eliminate b7=9
3) easy to the end

Hint for hint 2 : look at 4s in row 5...

Given that today is a 'promenade' (don't know if this french word applies here the same in english), I invite you to look back to yesterday's comments and tell me what you think of my last proposition (it needs time enough to try it).

DJ : I also answered you on yesterday's comments.

to MIKE formerly from Perth. You seem to miss Perth very much as you mention it often. I hope you can return in the near future, especially to see your family. Although I like Perth, you can't beat Albany. Good Luck

16:09 and I love the snowman. Wish we had some snow here, which doesn't make me too popular, I'm sure. Other parts of the province are really getting swamped. Take care, everyone!

Al: It's not really guessing when you try one number out of a pair, take it as far as it will take you to see if there are any contradictions. If there are, pick the other number. If there aren't, then choose the number you originally tried. You are really trying to eliminate one.

Sweetie : only look at these sets :
(1)bh5=9 : possible 9s in row 5,
(2)dh5=4 : possible 4s in row 5,
(3)bd7=4 : possible 4s in row 7.
Whether d5=4 (giving b7=4 by set 3) or h5=4 (giving b5=9 by set 1), b7 is never 9.

In fc notation :
'(b5=9)==(h5=9)--(h5=4)==(d5=4)--(d7= More...

Merci beaucoup, GB! That was very helpful; now I see it!

I found this one to be fairly easy, just straight eliminations. Am I the only one? BTW, I thought yesterday's was extremely hard.

What a great picture of a snowman wearing a scarf and holding a hockey stick.

Monica from California....I understand your meaning, but I still think that it's guessing, because you have to attempt both options without knowing the outcome...with X, Y, Swordfish, etc., you know the outcome instantly...when you don't know outcome = guessing, when you don't know outcome = logic...(imho)
 |  |
sorry...final phrase should have been 'when you know outcome = logic'....

to gb and everyone:

I can always solve the hard puzzles but rarely the tough ones. What patterns/clues do you look for when finding a forbidding chain? Thanks in advance.
 |  |

I follow logic, thank you, but not your new notation. ie bh4=9; dh4=4; bd7=4 ? HELP!
 |  |
hi es,
bh5=9 is Valy's notation for the set (b5=9,h5=9) of only possibles positions for 9s in row 5.
