Maen all. Nate has made his presence known here! 10/Oct/17 12:09 AM |  |
 Wow! First post on a rainy day. ☔️ ☔️ 10/Oct/17 12:10 AM |  |
Since no one else is here, I may as well ramble. 10/Oct/17 12:10 AM |  |
We're off up the Ottawa Valley today for our Thanksgiving festivities. Two pumpkin pies, a turnip casserole and potatoes ready to be roasted are packed & ready to go. Yum! 10/Oct/17 12:13 AM |  |
That's my first CP, so I shall be heading off. 10/Oct/17 12:13 AM |  |
 AND 10/Oct/17 12:16 AM |  |
Good Maen, good people. Enjoy, Snowbird. I'd love your recipe for the turnip casserole sometime. 10/Oct/17 12:17 AM |  |
Great going for a cp, Snowbird. There would probably be a bit more interesting reading here in the Sudokuland pages if more people dredged up a few life details for cps. 10/Oct/17 12:22 AM |  |
What a fascinating structure. Wikipedia is very informative and its geology is still debated. Looking at it from a distance via Google Earth really gives it perspective with its surrounds. 10/Oct/17 12:24 AM |  |
Wombat and his poozles and mountain climbing. HalT and his cruise and flight back in time. Shiela and her alpenhorns and parade of beflowered cattle. Long work hours. Moves and redecorating. Mother Nature at work here and there. Local color. Illnesses and caring responses. Etc. Etc. Etc. More... 10/Oct/17 12:25 AM |  |
Thank you, robinw. I missed the attractive and interesting pictures behind the sudoku puzzles. 10/Oct/17 12:26 AM |  |
 all. 10/Oct/17 1:08 AM |  |
everyone! Sunny here! Hope your day is, too! 10/Oct/17 1:09 AM |  |
'Our' cat has returned after our vacation! I was worried she'd given up on us and found some other neighbor's house to visit! 10/Oct/17 1:09 AM |  |
Yum! (Me too for Snowbird's turnip casserole recipe!) 10/Oct/17 1:11 AM |  |
Plum, I agree. This place is like having an extra family around! 10/Oct/17 1:13 AM |  |
Calico Cat was so happy to see us that she drooled when she purred! 10/Oct/17 1:15 AM |  |
We kind of climbed mountains on our holiday in Germany... via cable car! We went up to the top of Zugspitze (2,962 m or 9,718 ft) on a beautifully clear day! 10/Oct/17 1:22 AM |  |
We have visited Bavaria three times now and it's hard to return home to such flat land. I think I must have been a mountain girl in a past life!!! 10/Oct/17 1:30 AM |  |
You just made me google images, Shiela. All sorts of song lyrics come to mind: We've already had 'Climb Every Mountain.' Then there's 'On a Clear Day, You Can See Forever' and 'I'm on the Top of the World Looking Down on Creation.' 10/Oct/17 1:35 AM |  |
When we visit Bavaria, it's with our sister city (a.k.a. twin city). We stay with host families - not in hotels. Our hosts have also stayed with us here in the US, so we have developed a very strong friendship. (Our town has a much different sister city relationship from the norm than just a city name on a sign.) 10/Oct/17 1:39 AM |  |
Plum - All very appropriate lyrics for such a lyrical place! 10/Oct/17 1:43 AM |  |
I think that if I were around 'real' mountains (high, sharp peaks vs the Appalachians I am familiar with) I'd spend all my time gasping -- both from the magnificent view and from the lack of oxygen. 10/Oct/17 1:44 AM |  |
(Wow! Landed on 22 and didn't even realize I was close! Yikes! Looks like I've taken over the site! (Guess I should go do laundry!!!) 10/Oct/17 1:45 AM |  |
That's a great relationship. What do they think of the landscape and culture here? What is the Michigan equivalent of alpenhorns? I don't suppose anyone's taken them to Frankenmuth? It must pale in comparison to the real thing. 10/Oct/17 1:49 AM |  |
Things are real exciting here. Am surrounded by wild fires! Fortunately, my home is safe as of now. Many others have already lost their homes. Sad! 10/Oct/17 2:29 AM |  |
Welcome back, Shiela - missed you among the usual morning greeters! 10/Oct/17 2:29 AM |  |
Oh, Denny - stay safe! What keeps your home from being in harm's way...? 10/Oct/17 2:32 AM |  |
 Shiela - no tales of lost/delayed luggage this time - yay! 10/Oct/17 2:34 AM |  |
Was your visit with a group of others from your city visiting your Bavarian 'sister'? 10/Oct/17 2:38 AM |  |
Joyce - The very strong winds are coming from the North. Fires are either south of me or completely on the other side (east) of Napa. If a fire started north of me, I would have to be concerned. 10/Oct/17 2:38 AM |  |
Plum, I'd have to say there is no equivalent in Michigan for an Alpenhorn. They are one of a kind!(I think our Bavarian friends would probably be a bit amused - but flattered - by our Frankenmuth.) 10/Oct/17 2:39 AM |  |
 everyone!!! 10/Oct/17 2:43 AM |  |
Nate's visit here, Snowbird, with 12 hours of downpours is thankfully nearly over. Have a good Thanksgiving! 10/Oct/17 2:44 AM |  |
Whew! No lost luggage this time!!!!!!!Yes, Joyce, there were 29 people altogether on our visit. (Next year we are going to meet our hosts on our own in southern France!) 10/Oct/17 2:46 AM |  |
 Well, lookee, lookee! 10/Oct/17 2:54 AM |  |
 Guess, I'll stroll us down to the bottom of this page . . . 10/Oct/17 2:55 AM |  |
