Hello all

Hello Anne - bit of a warm one today. They are doing heaps of back burning now; just as well we had a bit of a breeze just now - the smoke was thick!!
12/Nov/07 12:16 AM
 |  |

Anne
Wow!! We aren't allowed to burn leaves, or anything mush else. I remember going to Organ to visit my grandparents and enjoying the fire and the hugh outdoor barbeque
12/Nov/07 12:21 AM
 |  |

Jude: Careful you don't cause a conflagration.
You need a gale to disperse the smoke - but it might do more than that!
12/Nov/07 12:26 AM
 |  |

Hello Jude - I'm glad you kept the smoke up your way. We had a beautiful day here and I managed to get more work done out in the garden.
12/Nov/07 12:28 AM
 |  |

Dorthea - the backburning is to try and prevent summer bushfires. We have very strict fire bans during our summer months.

1:50 - Good Maen, world! Looks like we'll have a lovely day here on the Georgia coast!

Anne - My parents-in-law lived in southern California, and I remember driving throught the San Berdino forest with all of it no smoking signs in the summer. That the forest that burned (and in some places is still burning) last month.

Dorthea - the sad part is, a lot of them here are started deliberately.

Well, it's now off to bed for me.

2:34 Hi to all. Sweet little fella.

Thought for the Day:

all - A little rain must fall, but overall it looks to be a beautiful Veterans Day.

In regards to Veterans/Remembrance Day, please see my comments on the bottom of yesterday's Easy Page 3.

Can you answer this question - In America - where have all the poppys gone and why?

Those of us still on 11th take a look at my YouTube 'Please Remember' sung by Tori White.

Hi Anne well it is exactly one year today that we said goodbye to Perth and the SA's of WA.
Before the next year is out we will get together again.

Eve,
I don't remember poppies on Veteran's Day. However, I see them every Memorial Day.

Oh what a cutie all bundled up!

I am sending a great big THANK YOU to all the Veterans today.

Mary - they are/were sold by the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). They use to be at banks, grocery stores, etc. with a little can next to them for donations. The only place I can get them now is at a VA Hospital. Which I will be going to right after Church. It was always on Veterans Day (Armistist Day).
12/Nov/07 4:20 AM

Mary is right. Some people confuse Memorial Day (which honors those servicemen who died for our country) and Veterans' Day (which honors those living men and women who served in the armed forces). Thank you, Eve, for your nice remark about the "Ode to Gath'. Unfortunately by accident, I posted it right at the end of yesterday, so not many people will have read my appreciation of Gath's efforts.
You have given me the opportunity to advertsie it !!!!

Rayray - I, too, am glad Eve brought your ode to our attention. I just went back and read it. Good work! I think we all take his hard work for granted, and it was nice of you to take the time to create something special for him!

Rayray (PLS), it was thrilling to read that Gath "diverted most evil intentions of vandal dragons and redeemed our future from this dire threat"! BRAVO! WELL SAID!!

And Gath, well deserved!
