Marking tests. 60 students! First question: almost all zeros. Usually that's easy to mark - just look at it and put down zero. Took an hour anyhow. Now just 6 more questions to grade but feeling really bad about how poor a teacher I must be. And I've been doing this 64 years! 12/Feb/17 12:24 AM |  |
 all. 12/Feb/17 12:24 AM |  |
Wolf, my co-pilot and I were discussing that very thing, philosophically that is, just yesterday evening. She's been teaching for near 50 years. Myself, I couldn't teach a dog to trot. Ask yourself what two things are different about now and 50 years ago. We came to the conclusion that it's not the teacher. 12/Feb/17 1:26 AM |  |
Wolf, If you are an earlier years (3-8 years old)teacher, you should retire now. If you are teaching an older student population, you should blame their previous teachers for not teaching the relevant basics. 12/Feb/17 2:45 AM |  |
I'm up at the magic hour again, quite cuppa and off to bed again 12/Feb/17 3:03 AM |  |
everyone! It was too cloudy here to see the eclipse. 12/Feb/17 3:09 AM |  |
Wolf, I remember in high school...granted, many, many years ago...one teacher telling our class that if we didn't, ''suck it up and start listening, we would sit there until we did''. This was the last period class. We sat there while school let out. Some missed buses. They were sent to the More... 12/Feb/17 3:30 AM |  |
I remember brilliantly my first day in freshman gym with a brand new gym teacher. He was large. We were all sitting on the bleachers getting told how things were going to be when one wise *** popped of with something and coach invited him across the gym floor to the office where he had the lad More... 12/Feb/17 3:54 AM |  |
Morning. No worries. DeVos is going to fix it. 12/Feb/17 4:28 AM |  |
 everyone!!!I dedicate this post to Queen Anne! 12/Feb/17 4:40 AM |  |
Yea, Keith. So, Uncle Sammie says to Buddy the button, 'Tony down at Costello's bodega is behind on his vig, GO FIX IT.' There's lots of definitions of 'fix it' and I'm a little queezy about her version. 12/Feb/17 4:41 AM |  |
I don't quite have as many years as some of you but I did spend 34 years with Los Angeles Unified School district as an elementary school teacher, a bilingual teacher and coordinator, a special ed teacher, a mentor teacher (got my National Board Certificate) in very poor neighborhood, very rich More... 12/Feb/17 4:47 AM |  |

Now I'm back to volunteer two days a week. I love the way my students come up to me like happy roly poly puppies just to greet me! Even my big fifth graders from my math team, come up with a big smile. That's what I love about volunteering. 12/Feb/17 4:51 AM |  |
Ski country! Not this peak, though! 12/Feb/17 6:19 AM |  |
Morning all, regarding the surprise party I spoke of yesterday...our grandson Dillan son of our late son Darren, surprised us all with getting married to the beautiful Stacey . The weather wasn't the greatest with the high temperatures but it was bearable because of the low humidity. 12/Feb/17 7:00 AM |  |
Cool pic of the Swiss Alps. 12/Feb/17 7:09 AM |  |
Good afternoon to all! Cold here and more snow forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Well, what else can you expect in winter? 12/Feb/17 8:07 AM |  |

Still, it'll be good for drying the laundry under the solar drier. 12/Feb/17 9:02 AM |  |
And there seems too be a lot of laundry to do after our trip away, 12/Feb/17 9:03 AM |  |
That's the biggest drawback to the end of as trip, I think. 12/Feb/17 9:05 AM |  |
Mid-February and it was 77F (25C) here today. Forecast is for the same tomorrow. 12/Feb/17 9:19 AM |  |

Just back from lunch with some friends. We went to a fairly new place overlooking a town close to Albany. The food was really lovely and so would the view be on a clear day. 12/Feb/17 6:38 PM |  |
Maybe I can help get us to the bottom of the page. 12/Feb/17 7:03 PM |  |
