4:11 My 8 year old daughter swam/biked/ran her "Try"-athlon yesterday and finished. Despite a stomach cramp along the way, she wants to do it again, so it was a good experience for her.

This is a "BIG DECISION" day for me. Go for an afternoon swim or watch the women's US soccer team take on Brazil in a match. (If I had a working VCR, I could do both - SIGH!)

It's nice cool summer day here -- after Church - heading downtown to check out the fine arts faire - I mainly go to look - I usually will pick up cards of the prints that I really like - have to ride my bike if I want to go -- my new scheme for exercise. Enjoy your day, Mary

I did ride my bike to the Hallmark store yesterday for their Christmas party in July - the things I picked up - I told the girls that it needed to all fit in my bike basket -- It did

Fun photo! It's amazing what people can do with their fingers.

Well, today I'm going to try to install an avatar! Not so hard for you guys, but I've always been a bit of a Luddite, and this technology is totally alien to me. I'm either going to succeed or fail miserably and embarrass myself.

Heidi, Since when are you worried about embarrassing yourself? Looking forward to your avatar!
14/Jul/08 1:41 AM
 |  |

I'm not worried about embarrassing myself... I have too much practice doing so, I just don't enjoy discovering new lows.

Well, on to brunch (haven't eaten yet), take care of critters, then sit down and TRY!

Good Morning everyone, today is the annual Elks Lodge golf tournament, I don't play, but I can drive the adult malted beverage cart! It is going to be a great day, not too hot, sunny, with a good breeze. time to do the puzzle. Congrats to "little plum", having kids active when they are young is great!

Heidi - good luck, you CAN do it!! Did you get your pond lined?
JulieK and benny - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Are you still standing after all your celebrating, benny?
14/Jul/08 2:18 AM
 |  |

No, jamie, I did not. I got the additional liner needed, and the special 2 sided tape needed to join them, but it poured yesterday and added about 4 inches of water to the hole. I can't put the liner down until that has dried up.
14/Jul/08 2:22 AM
 |  |

I wish you could have sent the rain my way, Heidi. Then you could have finished your pond and I wouldn't have to water today.

Try-athalon? I've never liked the use of the word try. I'll 'try' to make it to your honors banquet. I'll 'try' to be there on time. The list goes on. Hold a fifty dollar bill by the corner and invite someone to 'try' to take it from your hand. When they reach out and take it, take it back More...
14/Jul/08 2:46 AM
 |  |

I hear ya Jeb... altho for kids, "try" (and do your best)...ath-alon. Does that sound better? Not quite so intimidating. My friends kid did something similar and she did tried her best.

But, next time Jeb..i'll "try" and be more sympathetic ;) I do agree that people do over use that word.
14/Jul/08 2:56 AM
 |  |

jeb, the funny thing is that you've found one of my pet peeves, yet going back and reading my other posts today, I found that I used the word twice! At least I like to think that I used the word appropriately.

Wow my computer clock's slow! My clock read 9:59 AM and already there is over 30 posts!!!! (my changeover time is 10AM)
14/Jul/08 3:02 AM
 |  |

The other misuse of "try" is putting the word "and" after it and another verb. It's suppose to be "try" with an infinitive! "Try to do something" not "try and do something". The second phrase says to "try" (what?) and then "do something". Ok I'll get off my pedantic soap box!
