Why is it that hard of hearing people feel they must shout to be heard? I have such a , a, a, "wonderful" time communicating with my dad and my hubby! Some times I get a sore throat trying to tell my dad something over the phone. And my hubby gets the most ridiculous sentence out of what I say!

I know what you mean, Shosho. Hubby would always say, "You've been to see your mother today, haven't you?" as I was yelling an answer to a question he had asked! lol

Regarding the hard of hearing which I am one, you ever stop to think how fustrating it is to hear but not understand what someone is saying and have to ask for it to be repeated also the different tones of voices make it hard as well.

Got a surprise this morning. I thought what a beautiful pic, then realized it was mine!

Re 'hard of hearing': like Amelia, I am one of them. Imagine if you could only see black and white without shades of grey. even a hearing aid only adds a few grey shades so it is still difficult to pick More...

Good morning. Not at work today, but socialising with the quilting girls, and then coming home so the carpet men can put new carpet in the bedroom and hallway.

Good morning all and welcome to DotCom!
Thank you all for your answers to my questions on yesterday's page. I'm pleased to know that despite the fact that I'm getting old (thanks for the confirmation, Phantom) that I'm not the only one who laments the passing of common courtesy, manners and honesty in our society.

Dino, it's not just those who are hard of hearing that have difficulty understanding mumbled words and phrases. A former co-worker had just immigrated from Jamaica and approached me one day and asked me how to spell "juwanna". I didn't understand what she meant, so I asked her to give More...

CynB - when Hubby and I went to Melbourne last year, the other passenger in our row had taken my window seat. We didn't say anything and he made no offer to move either. I very pointedly kept looking out the window! I did get my window seat on the way back - not that there was much to see.

A crusty old Marine Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young idealistic liberal ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation.

It's a bit chilly here. Just looked at the temperatures for where we live. Currently 6.6C (which is colder than it was overnight) - the apparent temperature (accounting for wind chill) is 1.6C - no wonder I'm cold!!

Indeed it is Vive la France today! 14th of July 1789 was the day the people of Paris stormed the Bastille, the prison where the King sent those he didn't like. This sparked the French Revolution, ended with a few heads rolling around the ground, and laid the way for the Republic of France coming in More...

1:46 This was a remarkably easy puzzle to do from 9 down to 1. Obviously, since I AM remarking on it.
I, too, have hearing difficulties. If you pronounce clearly and there's not too much background noise or distortion I'm okay. The diagnosis was "auditory discrimination" issues, but my actual hearing is fine. That means the problem is with my brain not my ears.
