Typical Nor'easter. Winds at 40+ mph, snow, sleet and freezing rain. Icy roads are causing accidents and traffic jams. Lots of school closings. Good luck delivering flowers on this Valentine's Day. But along the south coast, warmer winds are preventing snow from accumulating. Some power lines down, though. Compared to everywhere else, we're getting off easy. |  |
Ian - I can lend you my brolly if you're stepping out? |  |
Good morning everyone. What a mess here. Heavy snowfall last night and still falling. Strong blowing winds are piling up the snow and making it hard to clear the roads. Over 400 schools and school systems closed. Ah yes, winter in Michigan. |  |
3:33 Maen Shells on a beach. Had some trouble today with this Easy -- gotta pay more attention! |  |
Happy Valentine's Day.Bright sunny day here after overnight frost. Traditions associated with 'Valentine's Day', well-documented in Geoffrey Chaucer's Parliament of Foules, and generally set in a supposed context of an old tradition, in fact had no such tradition before Chaucer. The More... |  |

I would love to be on that beach. Three foot of snow here. |  |
Good Maen - the deep freeze is back in Il and the snow has passed by after dropping 8 inches in the driveway - I didn't have to do the treadmill last night - outdoor exercise ;) It was light - I love the beach - esp at night with a full moon and a gentle breeze blowing by. |  |
Oh, Thank you for the lovey warm picture. Snow is up past my 2 year old son's belly button! |  |
How can I have a walk on this beach which cover with these shells???? Have a nice mAen and happy Valentine Day to all. |  |
Thanks for the beach photo! I think I will head down there right now. It is about 75F here on the way up to the low 80s. No Blizzard in south Florida. |  |

Alphabet of the day'L'LAND, n. A part of the earth's surface, considered as property. The theory that land is property subject to private ownership and control is the foundation of modern society, and is eminently worthy of the superstructure. Carried to its logical conclusion, it means that More... |  |
LEAD, n. A heavy blue-gray metal much used in giving stability to light lovers — particularly to those who love not wisely but other men's wives. Lead is also of great service as a counterpoise to an argument of such weight that it turns the scale of debate the wrong way. An interesting fact in the More... |  |
Good night Ap and everyone. Off to bed now. |  |
Happy Valentine's Maen! I'm looking at this mornings falling snow and thanking God that it is not accumulating as it is with a vengeance up North. Thanks for the warm beach picture. |  |
Nice beach photo for such a chilly, snowy day here in Michigan. |  |
Looks like the Midwest has a real winter. Here in Rome we still have springlike weather. Our usual winter never hit so far. Just as well. |  |
Happy Valentine's Day to all my Northern Hemisphere friends! |  |
 3:20 they're all over the place |  |
 2:16 Maen |  |
What about the other versions of some of those words? Some are also verbs. land -- to bring in a fish lap -- how a dog drinks water lead -- noun and verb concerning being in front of another(lead the metal is pronounced with a soft e like led and the other is pronounced with a hard e like lee starts) That's why English is so much fun (not always). |  |
 Happy VD all. |  |
Now I can really say Happy Valentines Day. I was busy all day and just now got to read the rest of yesterday's offerings. I like the rose created from the characters, I just sent it to my sweetie. I'm not getting my wife anything though. |  |
Helen - Rome/It - Our winter here in North America was late to arrive, but it is here now! Happy Valentine's Day everyone |  |
Valentine Riddles. What would you get if you crossed a dog with a valentine card? A card that says, 'I love you drool-ly!' What did the painter say to her boyfriend? 'I love you with all my art!' What does a man who loves his car do on February 14? He gives it a More... |  |
Mean everyone! Level 3 snow emergency in NW Ohio means that nobody was supposed to be out the roads this morning and authorities asked businesses to close if possible. Only 6 to 12 inches of actual snowfall - but LOTS of blowing and drifting means the road crews can't keep roads cleared of More... |  |
2:39 Happy Valentine's Day, everyone in these parts!Shoveled two feet of snow this morning and it's still coming. Very pretty though ... maybe tonight I can get out the snowshoes and trek across the nearby golf course. |  |
everyone and Happy Valentine Day to those in the western hemisphere. Have a great day... Sunny and warm in S/W USA. |  |
Those are a riot, BILL, but I have to ask you about the pronunciation of one ... I don't speak French ... What did the French chef give his wife for Valentine's Day? A hug and a quiche! Is ''quiche'' pronounced ''keesh'' or ''quicky''?? LOL |  |
Judy - I have a comment for that, but since this is a family site I won't say it Happy Day everyone! |  |
I haven't seen a beach with that many shells on it in a LONG time. It must be an old picture! |  |
What a wild night! Severe Thunderstorms, tornado warnings, Hail from pea size here, to golf ball size nearby. Five homes destroyed next county, a temp drop from high 60'sF at 5 pm Tuesday to wind chill today of 20 F mid morning Wednesday. We even have snow flurries, snow is very rare here. Delicate More... |  |
Good Wednesday Maen, all! My sis in Ohio sent some snow pics of their property today. Guess I should send her some of my daffodil and lemon tree pics (that I took yesterday) to help her thaw out... |  |
