John & all - It was well over 100 yesterday - suppose to start cooling now.

Yesterday, I asked for you to add to the list:
The time is the '50s any given Saturday.
Where were you when you indulged yourself from the display of:

JuJuBees
Milk Duds
Good & Plenty
Bon Bons
Boston Beans
Sugar Daddy
Cinnamon Red Hots
Hot Buttered Pop Corn

Eve - I would have been munching Necco Wafers (because they lasted longer than any other candy) at the El Tovar Theater in Crystal Lake, Illinois! Matinee price for kids was 14 cents. Later, when the theater was bought by the DeMars (spelling?) family and renamed the Lake Theater, the price went More...

HI all! Nice to be back again. I see my trainee is clearing off for a well-deserved break to the land of cuckoo clocks - how appropriate. All she'll need to buy are a couple of chains to put round her neck which we shall pull on the hour, every hour. In the meantime Kathy, you shall be expected to keep up the good work...in other words, post today's riddle please!

The photo makes me think of the Friendship song - was it from the I Love Lucy show, sung by Lucy and Ethel?

Oh, I like the black, purple and yellow necco wafers. Faun likes brown, but I don't, so we swap colors we prefer.

Speaking of candy, and, rather on topic with today's picture ... I miss Lifesavers candy. I liked the tropical fruit flavors and the butter rum the best, but wild cherry was good every so often, too.

I've always loved chewy, brown things ... so Milk Duds were and are my choice of candy ... at the movies then in Dee-troit, Meesh-igan.
My husband preferred Sugar Daddies ... and bit into one in a darkened theater when he was a kid ... leaving 5 baby teeth in the hard, sticky mass!

Eve - I lived too far out of town to go to the movies on Saturday afternoons. Instead, in summer we'd be swimming on Saturday afternoons in the prettiest lake in Northern Michigan! We'd have an ice cream bar.
In Winter, we'd be shoveling the driveway!

My Dad was a Navy pilot and we lived on one base or another in the 50's. Movies were 25¢ and it was an all day deal. 2 features, news clips, and those wonderful serials we looked forward to each week. The parents took turns driving all the kids in the neighborhood each Saturday. Dropped us More...

I would add Jordan almonds to the candy list, my late wife's favorite. Love those necco wafers. Does anyone know what necco stands for? Another favorite of mine is Mallow Cups.

I gotta get me one of those.

Another memory from childhood: One Saturday morning, my brother, a friend and I put on a carnival for the neighborhood kids. I don't remember what kinds of games and/or entertainment we devised, but at the end of the morning, we'd made 42 cents - exactly the amount for 3 tickets to the matinee.

It would have been the "30th Avenue" theater, in Portland, Oregon. Admission was 25 cents. I had a nickle "extra" and had to choose between "Junior Mints" or waiting and having an ice cream cone at the shop "down the block", afterward.

Always a double More...

The serials were shown at the local Moose Club in my hometown (and they were free, as long as your dad was a member). The "real" movies were shown at the one and only movie theater in town. Loved the cartoons!
