all. Happy Friday & Saturday! It will soon be time for the Mo meet-up in Oz. Sure wish I could be there to join in the fun.

Karen, won't your sister (or hubby) call or text you when the baby arrives? Have you been able to talk to her since she went to the hosp.?

Speaking of babies, my daughter Kyley is officially 16 weeks pregnant today. She helped me put an app on my phone that shows the day by day development of the baby. Today's info says that at this point the baby weighs about 3.5 ounces & is about 4.6 in. long, roughly the size of an avocado. Soon More...

A sad day in Texas, Big TEX has burned up. Have not heard any details, Man passed by the fair, and saw it.

Kathy, I love the site, where it told me what is going on during development and when.

My sister is messenaging me off and on about what is going on. BIL, might still be holding a grudge against me, so I not counting on him to get in touch. I may have given my opinion, of what I thought about him. He is so sensitive.

Seems that my longest lasting military service 'souvenir' is still with me. Yesterday, morning, my nearest neighbor (about 1,000 feet away) called to ask if I was ok. They heard 'some sort of alarm'. My new septic system alarm was going off. They heard it, I didn't.

Then last night at More...

Jerry, why do you need an alarm on your septic system?
20/Oct/12 3:08 AM

In my area the ground won't 'perk'. I had to have a 'whiz-bang' system installed that includes a standard septic tank, a pump tank, a sand filter and a sand mound. Two pumps are installed. There is a electronic control panel for the system. Hence, alarms when something isn't right.

New system takes a while to 'adjust' for proper operation...

Without this type of system, I would not be able to build a house...

Sounds like a lot of work, for a poop catcher.

I don't know what it involves, but our septic tanks had to be inspected several times before it was right. Actually, the first one was put in before a bunch of regulations were set into effect. It was the second system, that had all the proplems. Not enough gravel, or sand...I personally just flush, and say Yeah! when it works.

Note to all who are considering the purchase of rural, undeveloped property.

Do research the necessary details.

Water - Well or? How deep, quality, cost to drill.

Septic - What type of system is required. (Relatively cheap & easy or something more complex and costly.)

Karen, I'm sure Peter could tell you some stories about poop catchers in the 'O-Boats' (submarines)

Sort of know, what you mean, Jerry. This place was undeveloped when we moved out here. No water, which cost a pretty penny to put in lines. At first there was going to be no phone service, but there was a possibility to have a party line. I don't recall having to much difficulty getting electric.
But we also, don't have to worry too much about frozen grounds, like you do, either.
20/Oct/12 3:57 AM

Come on Jerry. Isn't the real reason you alarmed that septic system so that no one could illegally 'dump'?

Perhaps, to circumvent my hearing loss, I could install a klaxon horn... (they will almost awake the dead.)

In my case, Karen, the phone company would have plowed in the phone line at no cost to me, but. The power company got onboard, and the phone company charged them. Of course, you know that got passed on, to ME. On the plus side, I wanted power available at the gate area, for lights and maybe a gate More...

We had big dreams for this place too. Which have changed dramatically over the last 14 years. Especially, in the last 6 years, which stopped production on this place in a big way. Now, those dreams, are nice little drawings, and samples upstairs.
The way you work, I can see your dream, of a light and electric gates happening.

Seems, my niece won't be coming until after 2, my sister's time, which will be around 3 my time. So, I won't know anything until 4. Darn. Might as well be productive and go take a nap.

Serena, I don't even have a clue how close cable is to me. Probably miles...

To me, that is of no great import. I haven't had TV for at least two years, since I cancelled dish at 'the other place'. And, the 50 to 100 dollars a month to watch commercials is better spent elsewhere.

I have phone line DSL internet. I could possibly get off the air TV if I put up a good antenna, but that is at the bottom of my to do list priorities.

We don't actually get any stations. We don't have a HDTV or a working converter box so the TV is just used to run things through. If you want to hear a long rant ask me about the converter box.

Serena, I tried a converter box at my Washougal place. After nearly an hour of searching the box dutifully reported that there was nothing available. At least with analog I got 1 channel clear and 1 so-so. But as I said, no great loss.
