all. I'm not sure if Jane is ready to post picture poozles yet, so I came in early today to post a puzzler. You'll have to print this one out if you wish to do it. After it's printed, count the number of men. Then cut along the two black lines, and swap the two upper segments, More... 23/Jul/12 12:54 AM |  |

Since we can't submitt more smiles/avatars I haven't been able to show you what I will be doing today. We are going to the new house and paint closets. We scraped the ceilings yesterday got the nasty popcorn finish off. 23/Jul/12 1:09 AM |  |
everyone! We saw the bridge climbers while we were there. No, I didn't join them! Heights are not my thing. 23/Jul/12 1:09 AM |  |

I've scraped popcorn ceilings before, Sue. It goes everywhere! We finally learned that one of us should stand with the vacuum hose at the ready while the other scrapes. Yucky job. 23/Jul/12 1:13 AM |  |
The answers to yesterday's poozle: 1. dog hair & hog dare 2. throw a stone & stow a throne 3. light a fire & fight a liar 4. cavern toad & tavern code (or, if you're Grass-hopper, bog frog & grog log. I LOVED that!) Speaking of amphibians.....winners, HalT, Grass-hopper, Pam, Serena, More... 23/Jul/12 1:25 AM |  |
BTW, I have e-mailed Gath about not being able to submit new smilies and avatars. I haven't heard anything. Maybe a nudge is needed from others? 23/Jul/12 1:27 AM |  |
And for today..... I have always had the correct number of candles on each of my birthday cakes. I have had exactly one birthday cake for each year of my life. If I have blown out a total of 861 candles thus far, how old am I? Answers to the ''Did she just post a MATH poozle?'' inbox, please. 23/Jul/12 1:37 AM |  |
everybody. One of my fond recollections is walking across the Brooklyn (NY) Bridge to visit an Irish Festival. This picture is a reminder. 23/Jul/12 1:43 AM |  |
Sue, don't you just llllooooovvvveeee, popcorn ceilings? Actually, I have not met anyone that likes popcorn ceilings, so really have no idea how come a lot of houses have them. The house we are looking at, does not have popcorn ceilings, thank goodness. One ceiling will have to be replaced, it looks like it has office tiles, the rest are smooth. Again, thank goodness. 23/Jul/12 1:46 AM |  |
 Is Keith awake? 23/Jul/12 1:47 AM |  |
Kathy, I sent another message to Gath just the other day, got back, Sorry not yet. 23/Jul/12 2:03 AM |  |
Karen, popcorn ceilings are a thing of the 70's from what I see. 23/Jul/12 2:04 AM |  |
Kathy, since the house is barren of everything thought this would be the time to scrape. As I said thankful we only had 3 walk-in's and 3 small closets to scrape. 23/Jul/12 2:08 AM |  |
Man wanted to popcorn ceilings in this house, I sort of threw a fit, just a small one, so I have been left with sheet rock ceilings. Better than popcorn. 23/Jul/12 2:09 AM |  |
 Happy Sunday day off! 23/Jul/12 2:22 AM |  |
Popcorn ceilings are soundproofing. They keep you from hearing the people upstairs and cost a ton of money to have them installed. 23/Jul/12 2:22 AM |  |
Good for you, Karen! I'm glad you put your foot down. I'm not sure what everybody means by ''popcorn ceilings''. Here, they plaster the ceiling, then use a mop to make a splashy effect on it. You can't clean them, and if you have the bad luck to have a leak, bits can fall off the ceiling. I think it looks awful, but almost all houses have 'em here. 23/Jul/12 2:51 AM |  |
Are bridge climbers like urban mountain climbers? Do they take any safety precautions? Are they legally allowed to climb on the bridge's support system? 23/Jul/12 2:54 AM |  |
Heidi, I am not positive on how popcorn ceiling is done. BIL redoes rentals, apartments and motels/hotels, and has a machine he blows the ceilings with. I am with you on the cleaning. I am a plain person, and beg for easy clean up, so I want smooth walls and ceilings, my texture can come from something else. 23/Jul/12 3:15 AM |  |
Heidi, the Bridge Climb is a business. Very strict safety procedures. They all wear special overalls and you cannot carry anything (if anything fell it could cause problems for someone below). Costs from \$218-\$298 depending on the time of day and takes about 3 hours (including preparation) 23/Jul/12 3:16 AM |  |
DotCom, you sound like you are a fan of the popcorn ceiling. You are my first fan.Just so you know, I do not have many popcorn ceiling conversations, so my resources are limited. But on HGTV, the home shows, I have not heard many fans either. 23/Jul/12 3:17 AM |  |
 everyone!!! 23/Jul/12 3:20 AM |  |
I have the 'popcorn' ceiling and haven't scrubbed it in 20 years. Couldn't even begin to think of how to clean other than dusting it with a duster. But scrubbing it? I'd have the entire ceiling on the floor! 23/Jul/12 3:21 AM |  |
