32 years is a long time to have that hanging over one's head despite being exonerated by a royal commission.

Mads, thanks for the further info on Lindy. I read more about her & the case on Wikipedia. What a horrible crime to be accused of. In the movie there were so many other people around at the campsite it didn't seem like she could have killed her baby without someone seeing something. Very More...

I have always thought Lindy didn't do it.

When the original pieces of clothing were found, they were folded in a neat pile and left on a rock.

There was a story a few years back (since discounted) that a group of men from Melbourne found the body, brought it home with them and buried it under a concrete slab in one of their backyards. They supposedly just stumbled across the body at Uluru (Ayres Rock as it was then).

It seems entirely possible to me that a hungry dingo could have gone into that tent looking for "prey" for dinner. If he attacked & killed the baby, couldn't someone who found the clothing later have folded it & left it in view for someone who might be looking for it?

Thanks, Kathy. I knew they were playing today, I didn't know when. I am watching a program on DVR that I have to watch when TM is away. I will check it out when it is done.

Jane, I know I am late answering your movie review, the only one I have seen is - This Means War. Thought it was a cute comedy.

Kathy/V.... That's such a tragic story. I pity the mother for losing her child. That loss must be worse even than not being believed, and imprisonment.
It's my impression that a large percentage of wild dingoes now are crossed with feral dogs. That would make the crosses extremely dangerous More...

Yes, Kathy, but why not hand the clothing in to the police, or let them know where it was?

It was found fairly early in the case.

My other qualm was raised when I heard 2 policemen (at a social event)from the next state to the NT discussing the case. They had the view that the police had been made to look like foos and they would "get her".

Heidi, I was not aware of this story back when it was happening, but since I am a big fan of Meryl Streep I decided to order the movie on Netflix. Rob & I don't like paying big bucks to see movies at theatres, but for $8.55 a month we can order as many movies as we have time to watch in a More...

CP, not too many Aussies around the site just now, but I hope others will offer their opinions on this sad case. Was it big news all over Australia or just locally near Uluru back when it happened? Is it possible some tourist from another country found the clothing & had not heard about the death of the baby? Was the blood very visible or could it have just looked like dirt?

Dingo's generally do not attack unless desperate. The dingo attacks on Frazer Island (these are pure dingo)that are being cited are because the 'powers that be' have removed the introduced ferrals that the dingos now feed on. As a result they are starving. Mix a starving carnivore & tourist More...

It is still overcast & drizzly here. Yesterday the highway was cut for 5 hours. We are fine but I think the local cop was in trouble with the Truckies late yesterday, as the cattle were starting to die on their trucks. 7 B-doubles means 500 beasts. We were at the local watering hole watching all the drama. Eventually they let the trucks through (at their own risk) After the trucks the 4WD's figured that they would make it too, then the normal cars thought 'why not' & went for it too. Drama over, cops went home. End of entertainment.

Kathy - we decided to wait until tomorrow to go to the cinema. My toothache flared up again this afternoon, and I didn't want to be distracted at the movie. We plan to see "The Artist" tomorrow if I'm feeling up to it. I am SOOOOOO ready for my root canal on Tuesday!

By the way, I agree about not liking to pay big bucks for the movies, but as I think I mentioned before, one of our favorite local Italian restaurants has a $13 deal: slice of pizza, glass of wine or beer, movie ticket and a voucher for a small popcorn! The only catch is, you have to sit at the More...

G-h... a lot of city people think meat is made in groceries and factories, and doesn't really come from living animals. I have heard some really clueless folks who have never even seen livestock before. It can make your brain explode.

Tramici really is a good bar (and restaurant), broni! Here's their website and some pictures, but they don't do the place justice because there are no people in the photos - and the place is always rockin'!http://www.tramicirestaurant.com/
Let me know when you're all coming, and I'll make a reservation!!
