I am told that the price of rice has suddenly increased because India, China and Indonesia have stopped exporting it as they can now sell it domestically. I have no way of finding if this is true, nor of discovering the extent to which it is speculators who are hiking the price.

Rayray, I would not be surprised if the rising cost of rice is the same issue that is causing the rising cost of wheat. Rice hulls are a good source for producing Ethanol. So what would you rather do, drive or eat?

CG - I've already made my choice. I ride my bike now and only drive when I have to go to the mainland. I've been burning 9 gallons every six to seven weeks! I also do my grocery shopping by bicycle. It takes 2 or 3 trips sometimes, but what the heck, it's good exercise!

Jane, I bought brand new and drive (occasionally) a 2000 Ford Taurus that has a little over 40,000 km. on it (slightly less then 25,000 miles). I guess you can say I made my choice as well many years ago. Legs are for walking.

CG - Good for you! A couple of years ago I was planning to trade in my '94 Saturn for a new car, but since I'm still getting 40 mpg, I figured why? And since I'm not driving much any more, I don't need a new car. I can always rent one if I plan a long road trip.

The Aust rice crop was reduced due to the drought & resulting water restrictions, we use sugar cane trash to produce ethanol, this is not edible so doesn't affect the food supply.

Well, Spain versus Germany. Should be a good one. Hopefully we won't lose the feed again and will get to see the entire match.

CG - The match is over, but I won't say who won. You must have a delayed telecast, CG. And, no, there were no lightning bolts today, so no delays in transmission.

Jane, I watched the match so I know who won (and I gave it away). My complaint was about yesterday's game, as I never got to see live the last three goals due to a power outage in the host country. Germany dominated completely. I was pulling for Turkey yesterday as I like the underdogs.

1:56 Good Morning

Seriously considering cancelling the wedding after husband-to-be had pre-wedding drinks last night. He had told me that he would be getting home around midnight so, like an idiot, I wait up for him so I can say 'hi'. He doesn't get home until 4:30 and then passes out on More...

I agree, Suzy! I have the names (the missing one may be a twin?) and birthdays mostly sorted out, but we have to know if the kids are 4 or 5 different ages! I believe that Fiona has a wicked streak and has left out a detail or two just to drive us bonkers!
