Although I am not a football fan (as I've confessed before), I will be watching the Georgia/Florida game today. I think it's against the law to NOT watch it here on St. Simons, so I'm playing it safe. So I'm off to run my errands before liftoff (or kickoff - or whatever they call it) hehehehehehe

Assistance needed. Question for the cooks out there:

What makes a chess pie a "CHESS" pie? I have had lemon chess pie before and dearly loved it. When I asked my local bakery if they could make one, they asked me the difference between a lemon pie and a lemon chess pie -- and I couldn't answer except to say the chess pie was far better.

DAPLAP: In answer to your question, I think the difference between to two pies is that one (the lemon chess pie) is made using whole eggs and cornmeal and the other (regular lemon pie) is made using corn starch and egg yolks, at least according to the receipes handed down to me by my mother. Cheers!

Daplap - check out the following website for information on chess pies. It appears chess is a corruption of the word "cheese". Interesting read, in any event.
