The Value of a Drink

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers.
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:

better said with the pic..it was more hilarious
The little boy wasn't getting good marks in school. One day he made the teacher quite surprised. He tapped her on the shoulder and said ...'I don't want to scare you, but my daddy says if I don't get better grades, somebody is going to get a spanking.'

A man and his wife are awakened at 3 AM by a loud
pounding on the front door.
The man struggles out of bed and goes to the door, opens it, and finds an obviously drunken stranger standing in the pouring rain.
Almost snarling because of the inconvenience, the guy says to the drunk, 'Yeah, More...

After putting her children to bed, a mother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin.
At last she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them More...

The Strength of a Man
The strength of a man isn't in the deep tone of his voice.
It's in the gentle words he whispers.
The strength of a man isn't how many buddies he has.
It's how good of buddies he is with his children.
The strength of a man isn't in how respected he is at More...

To my favorite CP, AP: I loved these last three entries, especially the Strength of a Man. I will pass that one on to my friends. Thanks.

Thanks for commiserating on the weather, Canuk Greg. Hope you'll be able to get out for another sail ...

is anyone here a teacher that has tried this with hard to teach students? i was thinking of using these as reward challenges, to help them with reasoning and logic.

what a cute little guy!

Cool sudoku! In a home with nothing going on! Thank goodness for sudoku.com.au!

1:21 An easy one! I annihilated my personal best by 20 seconds!
 |  |
Jen,
I would certainly think it was worth a try, as long as you are very careful with the level of difficulty. I work with advanced students, but some of those that most enjoyed sudoku were the weakest students I had.
Anne and ap - thanks a ton for the jokes and thoughts - they went well More...

Good Maen. 2:47. Our high pressure area finally relented and we have had some cooling fog. Temperature dropped 10 degrees yesterday!

Hi JAMIE! - I know Kim teaches math, but I'm not sure what YOU teach?? My youngest daughter teaches 3rd grade, & I have spent a couple hours twice this week helping her get her classroom ready. Before she started teaching (this is her third year), I had no idea of the amount of time & effort & More...

BRELYNN FROM WASHINGTON - Can't believe no one has commented on your post about 'Attitude'. I thought it was one of the best things I have ever read here. It was in quotes so I assume someone else wrote it. Could you tell us who? Thank you. And nice to meet you!

JUDY FROM BENDIGO - Thanks to you, too, for the explanation of netball &, more importantly, what ELSIE FROM STRATH meant when she mentioned 'spat the dummy''! I had never heard that phrase before & thought maybe the dummy was part of the equipment!! ELSIE's probably busy delivering babies, but she'll be back soon, I'm sure.
 |  |
Okay, KIM, here's my chance to go for 5 in a row! JUDY & JODI, you must both be sports fans?? What other sports besides netball do you like or play??

I did it! I'm officially a CP today!

ang hirap mamuhay sa america pero madaling maglaro ng sudoku. hehe!

You rule, KATH!

But we are AMATEURS compared to the extensive serial posting that occurred last night as we slept ...
 |  |
HI KATHY did you see my post to Ed above. Today is their special day and if you know any more.
 |  |
JEN:/N.O area: When I taught special ed, I often used puzzles of all types to challenge and increase logic and reasoning, and as extra work when I had to spend time with those needing more one on one help. They always looked forward to them. I had to really teach them how only about about three times before they took off.Hope you find them usefull.
 |  |
Kathy, Congrats on the CP status!! I teach high school math. Thanks for the kind words. I love my job, but I am looking forward to retirement in 3 or 4 years if we have enough college bills paid for our kids.
 |  |
Hey Kathy...You Rock! Hi to you to Judy, hope both of you are enjoying our world, even tho we couldn't hold a candle to the cp posters of yesteryear. Happy special days to Tootie and Hubby as you celebrate your 59th anniversary! Congratulations and wishes for many more.
 |  |
JAMIE: My kids have been out of college for 7 years, and we are STILL paying the bills ... :)

RE: SUDOKU FOR KIDS: Teachers who plan to use the puzzles for your students, PLEASE print them out rather than let the kids on this site ... when they discover the comments section, they tend to lose all control and ramble on like idiots! (Even more so than we do!)
 |  |
Hi, MAMACITA! You've been quiet lately ... don't let the meanies put you out of commission!

Some of those who posted endlessly last night are those who complain about our serial posting this time of day ... at least our comments have some purpose!
 |  |
Since Judy is queen of cp's, Kim, ap, Kathy, Jamie must be princesses, and those of us who can't type fast enough to have consecutive post are just tryabees. How's that for making up words?
 |  |
Great jokes today folks
 |  |
Ed and Barb happy today what ever it may be. With you two, every day is special. Enjoy!
 |  |
JUDY: thanks for the encouragement!! I really want to retire before I turn 90. Part of the problem is that my wife was also a teacher, and we lost a big chunk of her income (such as it was) when she retired three years ago.
Oh well, at least I do enjoy my job.
 |  |
Maybe I was just too talkative to be a good cp.
