good morning people.
Belated congrats to Karen. What a blessing girls are. May your new girl bring you years of joy, (enough to get you through her teenage years). A a big to your new addition.

Sh-h, Elsie! Don't let Karen know how much harder it is to raise girls than boys!

Angie - you must be bursting with excitement about your trip! I have always wanted to go to Greece but never had the opportunity. I hope you post LOTS of pictures when you get back!!!

Its so funny Judy, after 3 girls, I'm finding my boys are just so much easier. But the jury is out on the later years.
Karen, private message for you.

Angie, sooooo jealous. To get away from our southern winter would be bliss - and to somewhere so exotic. Hmmmm - got room in your suitcase?

In my experience, in the later years, boys don't find everything quite as traumatic as girls do.

But boys can be stubborn cusses! Don't know how they compare with girls, but you still worry about them even after they're married and raising their own families.

Elsie, I wish I had more room in my suitcase for my clothes! Think next time I do a trip like this I will leave all 4 daughters and all their "shoes" at home.

Amen to that!
You should have heard my 20yo daughter carrying on tonight about a spider she saw in her room!!!
She refused, very loudly, to spend another minute in there until we had proof that we had removed it from her room.

Just to make you all a little more green with envy, a few details about the wedding. My niece is getting married away from our "village/home town" on the coast of Greece. A small church (yep white with the blue roof) has been booked for the service, yet the church is so old and small that More...

Thanks to all - Shiela, Plum, Eve, June, Jude, Kathy, Cathy, Linda - and many more - who wrote to talk about Dexter and making end-of-life decisions for a beloved companion. Right now he is eating well, playing, and generally quite happy. It is a blessing that he does not know how sick he really is. Thanks again. Betty

2:15 I've never had sons but I don't understand the saying that "girls are harder to raise than boys." There's an obvious difference because they're - duh - different genders, but I'm a female and I understand my daughters' female dynamics. I watch galfriends raising all boys and I feel sorry for them that they loose out on sharing things feminine with daughters.

As the mother of two boys, I am glad I don't have to deal with the "female" trauma of raising girls. I get enough of that at school. I teach in a middle school and having 10-15 preteen and teenage girls in the same room is not fun. A good friend of mine predicted I would not have a More...

Betty - so glad to hear that Dexter is not yet showing signs of his illness, and I hope that this sitation continues for a long time to come. Our pets truly are part of our families.

Angie, may you have the best trip ever. What a beautiful wedding you will get to attend.

Interesting that most of the ladies are coming down on the side of it being much harder to raise girls than boys. I never had sons, but thought my daughters were a joy to raise.

Betty..... I wish you and your beloved companion and helper, Dexter, the best. I hope you can get a new service dog as soon as possible. A new, young dog can frequently give an older dog a new lease on life.

What breed or mix is Dexter?

As a single dad, I am relieved to have a boy, especially now as he enters high school. I did not understand high school girls back when I was IN HS, (LOL), and I sure as heck don't now. But I know how a teen boy thinks.
After all, deep down, part of me still thinks like one

Speaking of teens- my teen son informs me TV pitchman Billy Mays has died. He apparently passed away in his sleep overnight. RIP Billy
Instead of sending flowers, I think I will wash something with Oxyclean! right away.

I didn't mean to imply it is 'harder' to raise girls than boys. But it certainly is different!
I enjoyed both. Just less drama with the boy. The clothes issue alone. With the girl, it had to be an exact thing. With the boy, if it didn't smell, he'd wear it. Don't get me started on shoes....

You are soooo nosy, Judy!

Kathy, my sons had a system where they sorted their clothes - clean, doesn't smell bad and wear again, and oh boy who let loose the skunk! I would have to just march into their rooms and grab everything on the floor, regardless! Then march them to the laundry room. BTW their wives thank me profusely for teaching them how to do the laundry.

My daughter-in-law thanked me too, Shosho. He can also clean.
