Silvergal (I think) said that the day after the Superbowl should be a holiday. We are having a snow day so I guess that's the next best thing. That only sort of effects us. Elijah does band in the school so that is canceled. I think Mondays are the best days for school closing because he has a More...

Dan has a miniature Pyramid of Egypt. It is 3 inches in height. Dan was invited to display it at an exhibition. Dan felt it was too small and decided to build a scaled-up model of the Pyramid out of material whose density is (1 / 8) times More...

Someone asked me once, if we took holidays off. I apologize for not answering sooner. The answer is yes and no. I don't do all the individual one day ones but I will take a full week here and there. So far, we did for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm not sure when we will do another one. I'm More...

But Jamie it is February. I recall, barely, always looking forward to that one day of February Freeze Day.
The pattern lately, has been 70's for a few days, and 40's for a few days. Today is a 40's days.

Yesterday was a 70's day, which had Man taking out the everlasting filter. He ended up turning off the unit, since the everlasting filter, did not last everlasting and he had to go purchase filters. Since we were in the 70's yesterday, he did not think to turn the unit back on. Which had me More...

Do you know how hard it is to get two girls up and moving on just a Monday? But then add cold to the equation? I really thought we had missed the bus this morning, but thankfully bus lady was running a minute behind too.

Need to get my tush in gear and out the door this morning. We are granted the pleasure of watching Kinder cup stacking competition this morning. This is actually quiet fun and very competitive. Tomorrow's competition will be the third grader, who is very serious and determined about her cup More...

Whatta game, whatta game! That's the way a Superbowl ought to be. And whatta crazy finish! I'm not a fan of either team, but certain big-headed players on the Seahawks made me pull for the Patriots. Happy to see the interception in the last 20 seconds.

Sunny! But that means there will be 6 more weeks of winter.
Over 900 schools in the area are closed due to 1 1/2 feet of snow.
Hubby's work opening was delayed 2 hours.

everyone!

I didn't have a favorite team last night, either. It was an exciting game to watch, though.

Good Maen, good people. Snowstorm totals: We have 18'' of snow in some (many) places, most common depth is in the 16-17'' range and in a few sheltered places we measured 14''. That's in 24 hours.

Burl's tractor won't start, so we are literally stuck unless we find someone with a hankering to plow our drive or else fix our tractor. How likely is it that someone like that will wander our way?

By Friday morning our wind chills will be in the minus teens below zero F. That will be 'feels like' -25C.

Once again I console myself that it was worse, multiple times, last year.

Once again I berate myself for staying in the same place to be such a dependable target for winter weather like this to strike.

Jamie - I thought of you recently. It was like this picture but in winter with ice and a dusting of snow. And the day was overcast, so my photo didn't turn out so well.
