Very easy 1->9 today. And speaking of going to market ... I have to clean out my chest freezer today to make room for leftover Fair lamb from last year that a friend needs to get rid of to make space for this year's Fair steer.

Good afternoon to all! If that was Porky Pig, and he was on his way to the market, he'd be saying ''Tha-hat-hat-hats all folks!''

Yes, DotCom, there are are many intelligence tests for animals, many of them are based on mazes, but there are other quite ingenious ones. Not that it bears on the issue of which is the more intelligent, but there is an interesting film about a pig that thinks it is a dog, it's called Babe.

Hi Wombat. I never thought of a pig in a maze and I did see Babe. I don't know if how quickly an animal learns to do a trick in response to getting a treat can be called intelligence. I've heard that a wild animal trapped in a house will figure out that going in the direction of a breeze will lead More...

I'm sure I won't convince you, but I'll have one more try. Some 'tricks' that animals use spontaneously are to use a stick to pull something they want towards their cage so they can reach it, others use sticks to impale grubs in their holes, some use stones to break open shellfish while others do not do any of these. They do this to gain nutriment, I wouldn't call that a 'treat'.
