Good Morning to everyone and Devon! It looks like a nice peaceful way to spend the afternoon!

It is a little warmer here today with light snow flurries.

André - Welcome to Doris! That is very exciting! You are right.....new dishwashers do purr! I hope to get a new one soon. My racks are rusting out! It is only 6 years old!

No frost here this morning, but the 40F overnight has brought many wading birds to the creek behind my home to stay warmer.
The wooden canoe Devon is in looks much better than the plastic or aluminum canoes most outfitters here rent out.

The sun is missing from the Midwest and Baby, it's cold out there - It seems the folks on the west coast are just pushing this cold area into my area - but I guess we are sending it down South -- Look out - 3 dog nite - enjoy your day - off to the gym.

Jim - sounds like you'll have new bird photos to share soon. I, too, noticed the fine wooden canoe Devon is using.

Happy Monday!
Currently 46 degrees F at 6:18am, but expected to get up to 69 degrees today.

My niece in Ohio is having trouble catching the train back to Uni in NY due to snow in Chicago...looks like she's missed her classes for today

Happy New Year a few days late to all. Had to put in my thoughts on dishwashers. I had to replace mine at 7 years as it kept breaking down. I purchased a Bosch and love it. No noise, gets the dishes clean even if they are not rinsed before putting them in. It was easy to install as I did it myself.

Debby - do you have a Whirlpool dishwasher by any chance? My Whirlpool dishwasher (which I bought in 2005) also developed rusted racks. After complaining (futilely) with the dealer and sending numerous e-mails to Whirlpool's customer service, I wrote a letter of complaint to the CEO of Whirlpool. More...

Well, we lost our impatiens last night, and it's supposed to be 22 degrees for the next two nights before it starts warming up. This is the coldest winter we've had since we moved here in 2004.

Well, at least we don't get snow, Lee! We lived in Richmond, VA for nearly 30 years and got snowed in at least once every winter. (We lived on top of a very steep hill.)

Sorry about your flowers Jane...we are not having a very cold winter out our way. I'm hoping that we go there after our typical January "false spring".
05/Jan/10 1:57 AM

Impatiens are not too forgiving in cold weather. Will you replace them (Pansies, maybe?) or wait till spring?
05/Jan/10 2:04 AM
 |  |

Vici, you may have all our snow. I will be very happy if you did.
05/Jan/10 2:05 AM

We'll just wait 'til spring. We can plant in early March, so that's not TOOOOOOOOOOO far off (although it seems like it right now!) Brrrrrr!

I'd LOVE to send you our winter, Vici. It's still bitterly cold. Plus i woke up to a thin blanket of white.

Jane, I don't remember the year but in the early 90's when we lived in Florida there was an ice storm one year and it snowed another year, this was just before Christmas both times. The ice storm really crippled Jacksonville, with all the bridges across the city.

Heidi, yes this is to be a very cold winter for us, coldest we have had in several years. Not to mention the 3 snows we have had already.
05/Jan/10 2:16 AM
 |  |

Boy I wish I could take Sue and Heidi up on their generous offers. I love winter, cold and snow. Need to move to a more severe climate.
We can't plant safely here until May. We've had snow on Memorial Day before.

Will be glad to trade houses for the winter, Vici!

Sue - I know it's possible to have snow here, but it's not too likely. The realtor who sold us our house has lived on St. Simons most of his life. It only snowed here once in his 60-plus years. Being on the ocean has something to do with it, I'm sure. Also, it's always a few degrees warmer here More...
