Good Morning. It is going to be another beautiful spring day. 24*c and the blossoms are out everywhere.

Never fear, the tempts dropped today to a chilly 99 degrees. So much cooler than those 3 digit tempts.
We are also being blown. Step outside and I felt like Piglet, in On a Windy Day.

It's raining to the north of me. It's raining to the west of me. It's raining lightly to the east of me. And there are thunderstorms to the south of me. It is dry as an old bone here.

Why is Jerry Lewis not doing the marathon this year? Who could possibly take his place?

I have had that happen several times, recently, Heidi. So disappointing when it happens.

For those interested it is 45 years, don't inderstand how since I am only 39.

Some controversy about Jerry Lewis, Karen.

Sorry, Kathy. Page Not Found. Is it because of Jerry's age or health? He's not exactly a youngster any more.

I should be packing. I should be finishing that quilt. I should be cleaning house. What am I doing? I am cutting trees. Lots of volunteers and overgrown trees that get in the way of mowing...Which I do, right after I pick up my branches.

I caught in passing one day (I live with a channel flipper) that Jerry Lewis was making a cameo at the telethon this weekend, but this would be his last Labor Day for MDA.

Our TV is tuned to tennis again today. American Donald Young has won the first set against Argentinian Juan Ignacio Chela, and Andy Roddick is up two sets against Frenchman Julien Benneteau. Aussie Sam Stosur's match against Russian Maria Kirilenko should be coming up soon. Hope Sam wins!!

According to an article I found, the telethon will only air for 6.5 hours tonight on ABC...no Jerry Lewis.

Basically, the MDA thought the old format was too long, outdated, & did not appeal to younger viewers. Many of Lewis' comedian friends disagreed with the decision to oust Jerry & not even have him do the cameo appearance.

After hosting the Telethon, and serving as it's chairman for 60 years, they should have left the decision to leave up to him. I have heard that there have been a lot of protests about the way Jerry was treated. I have never considered Jerry Lewis to be even faintly amusing, but he has done a LOT of good work for the Muscular Distrophy Assn.

It was really great having a visit from Keith & Lynne this weekend.
I tried my very best for Sunday lunch and I believed they enjoyed all the food ans drinks we consumed.
At my place we ate according to three recipes I have posted in Jane's cookbook - including Sushi and Fruit tarts More...

By the way, I felt that the Sunday lunch was about as good as I can do - probably to be counted as one of the best meals I have ever cooked.
I don't think I could improve much on the sushi starter. Maybe I could marginally improve the ginger & orange sauce and the way the duck turned out More...

Rayray, I'm sure the lunch was delicious and that Keith and Lynne enjoyed your company. It sounds wonderful, both the lunch and the visit!

I'm so glad you enjoyed meeting Keith and Lynne, Rayray! I have had the privilege of being with them on two occasions - in San Franciso in 2008 and this past May when they were in Georgia (and then later in the week at Kathy & Rob's beach house at Fripp Island, SC). Can't wait to see their pictures of your get-together!

That grass isn't getting any shorter!
05/Sep/11 6:38 AM

I mowed the lawn yesterday. Then Jaime and I non-powerwashed the front and side of the house (we're doing it in stages to give our backs a rest). Then I cleaned the screened porch and rearranged all the furniture. Tomorrow I'll finish cleaning the inside of the house so we'll be ready for our Labor Day cookout.

Rayray, seems you worked hard for some visiting friends and you totally out did yourself. Go rest and we will wait for the pictures.

After I posted my question, I had a crazy thought of looking at the Sunday paper on a Sunday. Thought it would smart too, since I still have two previous Sunday papers buried somewhere on top of my desk.
Anyway, there was an article, really the worst writing I have ever read, anyway said More...

Man has only had to mow our yard two times this Summer, actually it was before Summer began. Because of no rain, we have no grass. We generally, get two cuttings out of our pasture, we have not done it once, yet.
05/Sep/11 6:54 AM
 |  |

Our grass is getting shorter without me having to mow it, Sarah Beth. Due to lack of rain, it's not growing, and the cattle and horses are eating what's left as fast as they can.

Karen.... we usually have monthly hay cuttings from our fields, but nothing is growing right now.

Rayray, so nice to hear you, Keith & Lynne had a lovely time.

Rayray - I'm sure Keith & Lynne must have enjoyed your wonderful meal very much. I went to your gallery to see the Fruit tart & saw a comment that Keith made about it on Jan. 2, 2010. He said he wanted one, & 19 months later he got one! Lucky Keith!

Total agreement Kathy. What a wonderful meal. I was humbled by the amount of effort Ray obviously put into the entire meal. It was an amazing display of cutlinary skill.

The next Sudoku get together should be at Ray's house. The effort Lynne and I put into getting there was far surpassed by the pleasure of his company, and his hospitality. After I get home, I'll post pictures of the sushi and the tarts. They alone were worth the trip.

Morning, thought I'd drop in and say hello. Every time I mean to, it seems you've all been and gone. Maybe I'll have to get up earlier or stay up later.PS love Jerry Lewis, grew up with him.
